Mower drive belt Cub Cadet 102

Paid no attention to old belt, have new one from Digger. Now, how to install? Am lost. In the 4th pic see the blue pen....it points to a long piece of steel that sits in front but not attached to pulley. What is its purpose?
Must I remove the pulley to get the belt on?

Just remove the PTO engaging lever on the side of the tractor and put the belt on, then replace the lever.

Thank you. Not a peep about that in the manuals, maybe IH put out a manual that I'm unaware of.

There's a drawing on page 88 of the Service Manual that Charlie linked to, that shows how to install the mower drive belt.

Just remove the PTO engaging lever on the side of the tractor and put the belt on, then replace the lever. Charlie, this Forum is so helpful that I've gotten lazy. Shame on me, I've taken down and rebuilt Ford flatheads and Chevy 409's with some help and with no parts left over but here I don't have to work hard ... I ask question and you answer. Now I know why some of you have multiple Cubs
