Needing a Magneto, condenser and may be the aluminum side bearing plate. My cub is a 1962

I didn't know Kohler ever used a center mounted mag like that...Is this a pull start??

I believe in the tractor forum he said it was a pull start.

It's a pull start.. Don't see many..Check with Charlie at CC Specialities.. You may need to call him as they may not be listed on the website..

Point being....if it's a pull start...the mag has nothing to do with a starter mechanism....so adding an elec starter seems improbable at best

I have a call into Charlie and I don’t see why I can’t add everything to my cub to make it an electric start with external coil, condenser and battery. Am I not seeing the big picture. Thanks for your time and yes it’s a factory pull start Kohler

I'm not suggesting you can't add a belt driven starter but I would want to do a lot of research first.Try to find if it was an option back then.Then parts may be found or mfg...

Yes you could add all the coil,con,and batt..externally....batt. needs charging system

I downloaded the manuals and it seems like my cub was bare bones starters were an option and then no mag add a coil. Points in the normal place

Marty all you need is a lot of time and wiring and regulator....I f you copy what was done a few yrs later,you have a comparison...go for it....

If it were mine, I'd try to keep tractor as original as possible. If you do a web search, you can find coils for these Bendix magnetos. They are expensive but cheaper and easier than converting tractor to a starter-generator.
