I purchased this 1450 cub to mow the lawn at our new home. It’s a great mower as I expected it to be. I grew up using a 1200 three speed. I almost wrecked this mower when it took off and the speed control wouldn’t slow the machine down. I just removed the cover and I discovered that the linkage at the pump has slipped apart. I’m really handy and I realize that I’ll Be removing the fender assembly to work on this. Is the a common wear situation that I can just replace parts or is it a simple easy as tightening up something that has vibrated loose and applying thread lock? I also have noticed that the control on the dash is off. When it set at neutral it wants try to back up a little bit.

Thanks for the info. This will enable me to make the parts to get the machine to work as originally designed. I have read where some shims are needed beside the lock ring to remove some of the play. Where do you get the shims?
