Working out the bugs on the 882 and have 2 melted/brittle connectors to deal with.

The first one is the 4 pin for the temp gauge wires in the harness. 2 of the 4 wires have melted the plastic and are wrecked at the pin crimps so at the very least will need 2 new female pins and the connector half that goes with.
Looks like a PO had just crammed a piece of wire into it and soldered it to the harness wire, geesh!

The 2nd (not pictured)is the connector for the rectifier. It is very brittle and the connectors are badly corroded.

Does anyone know the proper name for this type of connectors? I am familiar with the larger Packard type that are used on the QL's. These are about 1/2 the size. There just is not much room in there to do a lot of splicing

Thanks!

rectifier plugs are very poor quality.

I replaced one on a 2182 with a 4 pin trailer harness because it was so far gone.....

In cases like this I usually forget about the perfect factory repair and install individual 3M style insulated spade connectors...it has just never been worth the trouble to me to have something that will just make heat again......but that's my personal opinion (I'm more of a "resto-modder") and like things cleanly functional....

I agree somewhat Steve, but as you know, I'm sure, there just isn't a lot of room under tgat dash to be splicing in new/different connectors.

That's one advantage the older WF's have, lots of room under there, but just as hard, maybe harder, to access!! LOL!

I rewired most of my 1572, more room than you think, but not a ball room either...

Nothing to do w/connectors , but what would be good to use to rinse out the slime in the bottom of the fuel tank on this little diesel??

Was really some pukey looking crap in there!

I pull my tanks off and flush them good with dish soap and water then let them dry in the sun. I also change the rubber bungs and fuel valve too. Good for another 30 years.

Got the connectors installed and the rig is up and running once again. Been quite a battle, got the drive train buttoned up and added fresh fuel to the cleaned tank with all new filters and fuel lines and fired her up.

GGRRRRR....oil dripping on the hydro filter from the input seal!! So....back out with drive line. You were right Josh, it is a PITA and a 4 handed job to reinstall!! Car Quest had 2 new seals in stock, so I bought 'em both. Now I have a spare.

I only wish it looked as good as it sounds!
Gotta get the new tri ribs on yet as soon as I get the rims back from the sandblaster and float a loan to buy 4 new wheel bearings, geesh, them things are pricey!!

Then, all that needs to happen is stop raining so I can strap on the Cat 0 12" low and head for Brown Farm Days July 18-19 in Central City and scour that baby up. Are Ya listening Rick and Josh??

Sometimes these smokers can be money pits, Dave. That thing will be brand new when you're done with it, LOL. I'm with Rick. All ears, too.

Josh, My son used the cultivator yesterday to run through the sweet corn. Did a good job as it was late planted and not too tall yet for the tractor to straddle.

Put the 44" deck on and mowed with it. Did not realize that it has a back-up PTO disconnect. bummer! Think I need a new PTO switch as it kept getting harder to keep in engaged as the rig warmed up. I hope it is the same switch as the QL's as I have a new one of those in stock. Will have to chase the #'s down on the parts look-up.

Next up, hang on Ricks green (UGH) plow and get it dialed in.
Really appreciate all the help and advise on this guys!!

Dave,

There "might" be a limit switch with a wire trigger under the dash near the hydro lever that just "might" fix the reverse PTO issue if slightly modified..........of course this is all hearsay and "might" not be true if a lawyer were to read it.......

Steve, yes there is, I noticed that when I had the batt tray & stuff out to access the connectors. Had no Idea what it was and never gave PTO lockout a thought, (that stuff is for "new" tractors, right??) and found it strange there were 2 PO added short wires soldered and taped to the wire going to each connector and just sticking out bare, so I cut 'em off and shrink tubed the bare wires where they were attached & soldered.

I'll bet that was a PO "wire around" the switch, geesh!

Despite the broken runners on each side and one or more noisy spindle bearings, the deck gave a decent cut although I probably won't be using it much for mowing, the GTX2054LE does a fine job on most of my lawn where it is flat enough to utilize that huge 54" deck.
