hi guys... think I might have a blown head gasket on a CH-20 Kohler engine. I see reference to 'leakdown' test in some of the posts... what is involved in doing this. ??

thanks
John

Put a compression tester in the spark plug hole, Put the piston at top dead center on a compression stroke. Listen at the carb throat to see if your loseing pressure through an intake valve. listen at the exhaust for a leaking exhaust valve. Listen at the crankcase breather for leaks past the rings. Blown head gasket? Listen around the head gasket area. There should be a spec on how long it should hold the pressure. Need more time to find where the air is leaking from. Pull the gauge off the compression tester and hook it to your air compressor.
