I have a chance to buy an flat twin in a cub. Don't know the model number. By the picture it look like it is a1975 or newer. Can't tell if it is a hydro or not. Is there any problems with the flat twins.

The series 1 17 HP KT17 had splash oiling. and the series 2 went to full pressure lubrication, with some having a spin on filter. All had the dreaded governor gear issue. but otherwise good powerplants.

were all the flat twins vertical? Most of the pics I see seem to be.

Is it not a vertical shaft kt17 on my 1720? I usually deal with 82 series cubs and they are all horizontal with either series I or series II kohlers. Series II with presurized lubrication is a way better deal imo. Just so i know, whats the deal with governor gear?

What's the difference between a 1720 and a 1730. Was the 1730 a series 1.

Well i dont know about a 1730, but my 1720 has oil filter, pressurized lube system, i looked at it again yesterday. Pretty sure it was 17 hp Magnum. I will take a pic next time im near it.

Sorry it took so long. I'm not as old as a lot of you but I'm old enough computers still give me fits.
