knocking

I have a 2006 cub lt1046 it now has a knocking sound which gets louder as the more you run it.
It knocks when in idle and running, the blades engagement has no effect.
It has 10/30 oil, serviced about every two years.
Transmission fluid? Don't know anything about that.

The oil is full and cleaned, engine has 258 hrs.

Is it a Kohler "courage"? 18 to 20hp... if so the diagnosis is not good

I have always said that it took a lot of "courage " to put the name Kohler on that engine .

While I like the Command and love the Magnums and K series singles, their Courage line is a total piece of crap, akin to most Briggs engines I have encountered..

Crap I'll have to look and verify but I think my bad boy o-turn has a courage in it

My experience only..the bads ones I've seen have all been 18 to 20 hp.....8 blown and counting
