Better front tires will be more effective than adding weight to the front.
I had the same problem with turf tires when plowing snow with an angled blade. I switched to Firestone tri-ribs, that took care of the problem.

I have a belly blade for my farmall cub. It works great for breaking the crown of gravel in my drive and for spreading gravel. works good in the dirt, unfortunately it is a bit useless for snow as the snow piles up in front of the blade it becomes very difficult to back up over it cleanly and in wet heavy snow it was difficult to back up at all. the fronts get hung up on the pile that accumulates. I tried the blade at an angle but after twenty feet the build up of snow pushes the tractor sideways.

Newbie question again

Is that a "belly blade" on the Deere?

This has blown my circuits 🤯

Yes, that is a 54C center blade with hydraulic angle. It works great in the snow with the snowblower. Since I go over a variety of surfaces (concrete, gravel, grass), I set the skid shoes on the blower for gravel/grass and then the center blade will catch everything left behind when in a paved surface. The tractor is weighted heavy enough that I don’t have any issues with steering. I don’t run chains, but have diff lock.

I can see the value of a belly blade in tandem with a snow blower especially with gravel. I use a back blade with my snow blower (2182). I raise and lower it with a linear actuator otherwise it moves same as the blower up front. the Farmall cub is just for moving things around in the warm weather for the last 20 years.
I do snow blow grass - otherwise the dogs use the driveway as a toilet when snow gets over a foot or so deep in the yard.

I didn’t want a back blade for winter use, as its parking space isn’t long enough with the snowblower and back blade on at the same time.

I have independent control of the snowblower and center blade (triple hydraulics).

Is there a front suitcase weight style bracket that would work with a mower deck attached for a narrow frame? Xtreme makes a front bracket, but it won’t work with the mower deck attached.

I was told that tractors are like watermelons: you keep the red and throw away the green.😊 Very nice JD!

Papa, If you don't have a welder, get one and the front weight bracket will work just fine with the mower attached! oh and while you are learning to weld, just blame the bad welds on the previous owner/children/neighbor/brother-in-law, mix it up and keep them guessing

Own a MIG - hey, everyone's a carpenter, electrician, plumber, welder, etc. Do you have any plans for a bracket that would work? I've thought about a two piece setup?

Here's some photos of a home made front weight bracket based off of the mower deck "mule drive" sub-frame. I believe this one was made by Steve Blunier.

I found some front wheel weights Gravely type. Got good price on ebay. It’s hard to find a good deal on wheel weights. My lord they are not copper. Look like the ones Kraig posted a while back. with the big center hole. I may have to machine a lil bigger to fit over my hubs. And not to mention 5 lug thread n nuts. hope i find a way.
