Ray, the photo you are thinking of is likely one of the photos of an Original during assembly.

I probably should wait until Friday to post this but I might get busy and forget...

After Frank posted the photo of the Lo-Boys on their grills photo I've been meaning to do a search of my archives in order to add some more photos and detail about it. Bryan McMeen had posted three photos of a flooded loading dock area, one of which was the photo that Frank reposted of the Lo-Boys on their grills. Here's the three that Bryan had posted

Then Scott S. posted more info about about the photos that Bryan had posted.

Scott Sunderland (Ssunderland) on Tuesday, February 05, 2002: I found this picture this summer and have wanted to post it since then. The building in the center right of the picture is(was) the IH depot in Harrisburg, PA. This picture was taken in June of 1972 after Hurricane Agnes. This picture helps to explain the pictures Bryan has with the LowBoys sitting on the grills.<!-/quote-!>

Kraig, Thanks for researching the Cub picture Frank posted the other day. Now we know the rest of the story. Hard to believe that those balloon tires on the back of those Cub LoBoys could displace enough water to perfectly stand the Cubs up perfectly on their grills. Note the one Cub that had Ag tires didn't get stood up. Also gives you an idea of how deep the flooding was from the hurricane. Similar to what was seen w/Harvey down in Texas. They must have had considerable flooding inside the Warehouse as well since the workers are assembling a Cub Cadet and Cadet Lawn tractor.

This 123 needs a head gasket

I've replaced it at least a couple times and have come to the conclusion that I'm overtorquing. Specs say 25 - 30fps. I've been going to 35fps. Maybe more isn't better?

Frank, are you sure that the head isn't warped?

Kraig, I don't think so. Our local CARQUEST sent it to their closest machining facility in Bangor, Maine. For $35 it came back "done". I must admit that I didn't double check it. This block has what I'm going to call weak threads in one head bolt hole. That's what brings me back to wondering if I'm overtorquing. There's more to the story, including wondering if my friend that was using it was running it at WOT while mowing.

Frank-

Have you been retorquing the head after running it 30 minutes at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle? Is the top of the block flat?

Easy there Frank we'll have "nun" of that off topic posting until it's actually Friday.

Matt, let's go here: What would it take to unflatten the top of one of these K321's ?

Frank-I just posted this in the sand box also..you may want to take the engine to the machine shop and have them run a straight edge on the block

Went to look at a 124 today.
It has been sitting in the edge of the woods for a long time.

The rims were loaded with calcium, so you know what shape they were in.
The mowing deck is rusted bad, but the spindles might be salvaged.
The seat cushion is ruined, but the fiberglass pan seems ok.
Other than that, the tractor is dirty, but seems to be in fairly decent shape considering where it has been sitting all this time.

The positive side:
The motor turns by hand. (not locked up)
It has a rear lift, dozer blade, hydraulic lift, and creeper gear.

I asked if they had an idea of about how much they would want for it?
They said "would 60 dollars be too much?"

Do you think I ought to get it?
