Just so everyone will know.
The Quietline lever arm does NOT require the valve handle bushing that is NLA from Cub Cadet.
All it requires is a 5/16 X 1 1/2" bolt, or I prefer a 7/16 x 2" bolt, 2 flat washers, nut and lock washer.

Don T.: Better make yourself a long, skinny ended punch. That's a miserable place! Good luck, CHUBBY FINGERS.

I see the benifits of haveing all kinds of parts . lol Put one of those in my order ,the 149 could use that now. Thanks for spreading some light on that for us.

But does it not go the other way to clear the tower???

Thanks for that Frank

Before I upgraded ALL my old style levers, I took a 24" 3/8 extension. Drilled a little hole in the end.
Stuck some axle grease in the hole to hold that nasty little spirol pin in and also chamfered the end of the pin to make life easier.

Also, unless you have help to hold the handle steady, it's a good idea to get a fat round toothpick to stick in the hole in the lever and the handle, then drive it out when you install the new one.
That's my 3 cents on the deal, since I've had way to many scraped knuckles before I got a little smarter.

It might in your case up there in N.S, but in the real world!!!!!

Notice that the U is on the other side in the manual pic, LOL

I've got to do another 149 in the next few days, I'll take pics just for you, as to not get ya to confused, or should I say more confused.

you see I knew that was just for a demistration lol. I`am still at the 450 blower and found no gasket in the gear box and no lub.Everything is tight . just a clean up and new seals. Paint in the am

I have to do some reading on lub for this. Thanks Charlie for all your help .

Paul B - thanks for the info. I think all the guys with the 70/100s need to make sure they have the greaseable pin, and I suppose they need to add the grease zerk and tiny channel in the axle itself.

Charlie - I believe Donald T is correct that the bracket lever goes the other way around to clear the tower on the XX9 series. It must because the hydraulic valve on the XX9 is mounted against the side of the tower while the QL series has it mounted on the steering column. I'm sure you'll see this when you do your 149 in the next few days, as you mentioned.

Harry,
You missed the point of my post and the dig at Little Donnie Tanner.

I've done 7 conversions in all.
But to make my post crystal clear.

My first pic was seeing the post and going to grab some parts to get a pic posted as quick as possible.
Orientation didn't matter at the time.

Thanks for that lol. I have looked at the owners manual for the 450 snow blower and It does not list what type of grease ,oil ect is to be placed into the gear box.If some one who has a service manual please post the type and amount. Thanks as always

Glasses are fine and there ain`t no 21 in the owners manual . It only goes to 19

And for some reason this is all I get going here

Look out here come the manuals!!!

Also Brochures & Literature

Plus never before seen stuff!

Please Standby

Ok Don I looked at the manual you linked to in the Sandbox and see the reference to 2 different greases with CC Part Numbers, one for the box you show and one for the drop box. So take a look again at the parts break down sections.

John Underwood

I stand corrected it does say ( lubricate with 8 oz of plastilube grease 737-0133)
On page 14
page 15 grease ref 100 737-0120

I live 70 miles one way for a Cub Cadet dealer and the part numbers or that description does not tell me much , Thanks but I will use a synthetic gear lube and normal high speed grease and be done with it . I must try to be more to the point on what my issue are.thanks guys

Charlie - no I got your point. Since Little Donnie is on the other side of the border he should install the lift handle on the left side, and then mount that lever as shown in your pic (not the parts diagram)(hehehe). And by the way, it should go the same way whether it's an xx9 or a QL - my mistake.

Little Donnie T - way up north - 70 miles from the nearest, but not best, CC dealer - your comments reminded me of another old timers back in the days of the old Forum BGC (Before the Great Crash) - with regard to grease or oil for that matter - "some is better than none" - especially when you're 70 miles from any. And with your winter temps up there I think I'd go with heavy oil rather than grease. And while I'm at it, are you north of the trees? I see some sticks without leaves in your profile pic. Do the ice road truckers deliver to your place?

I picked up a QA 36 snow blower that has a home made adaptor so it will fit a wide frame (says the po). Would the frame assembly from a QA 36A fit on this QA 36 or do I need to make this work. It was worth what I paid for it either way, It was an offer I couldn't pass up. I recently retired and enjoy the challenge.

Michael,
It'll fit, but it won't fit right... I modified a QA42 for my 149, it fits, but the chute hits the leading edge of the hood when I lift it. It hits worse when the chute is turned to either side...The NF blower pivots in an arc when lifted, while the WF 4-link version lifts straight up. I have since bought the correct WF blower for it, though...

LoL ,Well I`am not that far north,no ice roads around here but it does get cold. The sticks are poplar and loose leaves early in the fall. The Cub Cadet dealer here is 70 miles from me and I would not give that man a dime. its his attitude the first time I call with a list of part numbers and wanted prices.I compared his prices to Charlies and have bought all my Cub Needs from him. At least I get great service and just a fun hard time, I think that this gear box would be no different that a QA36 and I will use that mix if I can`t find a good synthetic that does not mind the cold temps here. I don`t think it will matter much because the blower and tractor will be sitting in my warm shop all winter(64 deg) and when used it won`t have a chance to freeze.

Nothing like bringing a snowblower out of a nice, 64* environment and having that cold snow start melting and turning to ice on it! Remember the tongue on steel stunt!
