Hmmm. People usually give you the shaft without warning. C. D. TOLD US he was giving us the shaft, TWICE, but must have changed his mind...

I won't repost the pics as I got the splined collar off today. Don't know why the pics didn't come thru.

CD.
Photos dont show up on the last post of a page, some bug in the system that aint been figured out and probly bever will get figured out.
As far as I know.

Posting is slow here, so here goes.

122 as it was when I got it.

As it looked last year at end of pulling season.

As of last weekend. It is actually almost completely assembled today. Still have the hood to get painted. I decided to go back to the correct fender/grill/hood to retain the 122's identity, also maybe the 100 will get put back together?

Just snapped this, it's almost there. Got to get some high heat paint tomorrow for the stack. Still need to fab the rest of the front weight bracket, (and bolt the hood on).

Looking good Jon

Anyone hear about the new tire from Vogel? should be a sample in DUQUOIN IL next weekend.

Jon N.,
Do you have some sort of support bracket/brace on that exhaust stack?

No brace for the stack as of yet. Haven't figured out a good way to do this, suggestions welcome!

May not look too nice, but you could go off the hood bolt on that side, just a thought. Or possibly off a head bolt/engine area? Or maybe even from the frame downbelow.

Jon, come off a head bolt to the stack with an L shaped brace. Then weld it or use a SS gear drive hose clamp.

Jon N.,
I like the suggestion bracket suggestion in the C.D.L.s picture, but I'm thinking it wouldn't clear the bottom edge of your hood.

However, if you were to put a 'lazy S' bend in the bracket so that it dipped below the side of the hood, then came out to the vertical pipe - it may still provide you with the support that you need without having to cut out or notch your hood bottom edge line.

I'd just hate to see you run that puller beast without any brace and then have it break off at the threaded portion of the exhaust port of your engine block!

I fabricated a brace this evening and installed, while in the process of painting the stack. It is pretty light duty, but it gives me a blueprint to build a stronger one. Fortunately the head bolt just behind the exhaust port is a stud, so I didn't have to replace a bolt. I had to leave this machine outside today to make room in the garage for another project, and of course now it is raining. I did have a soup can over the stack, but the absence of an air cleaner was bugging me. Painted the stock air cleaner tonight as well, so if it has to set outside I can breathe a little easier. Also mounted the fire extinuisher. Started priming the under seat weights (different length sections of 2 X 4 barstock, enough to fill weight box).Finished the retractable front weight bracket last night. Need to purchase some more weights (lifting weights), for the front bracket.

Jon N.,
Sounds like you're making GREAT progress! Let's see some updated pics!

Have you thought about adding decals, stripes or a name for that puller of yours?
You know you gotta have it 'properly dressed' if you're going to play with the other boys...

Don,
Please get some pictures of the new tire you are talking about from Vogel. I would be curious and intrested in it if it made sense in the design.
Thanks,
Greg

well, heres the progress on my k241. Machined both pressure plates, had a valve job done, bored .020 over, new stellite intake and exhaust valves, i swirl polished and radiused both valves, i also did a valve pocket relief, port and polished intake and exhaust ports, machined the head down .040, and painted the engine. i just about have the engine put together. heres the pics:

whatcha guys think?

Oliver K.,
It looks GREAT to me!

Once that baby fires up, that'll REALLY make the neighbors talk about your ol' Cub 100!

Did you have any suprises along the way or was it a pretty smooth rebuild?

If you don't mind me asking, how much $$ have ya got into it at this point?

well, i've got about 100 dollars in for machine work, and i have about 80 bucks for parts. plus paint and other misc things. so around 200 dollars into the motor. plus im restoring the whole tractor too. so we'll see. i think when im done ill be about 400-500 in. not bad.

it was pretty smooth, i originally bought a .010 over piston but the machinist told me that he bored it .020 over because it didnt clean up at .010. thats about it.
