Lewis - If I keep getting parts from you off Ebay.... LOL

BTW I did get Roy Drusky's record off ebay - Has him sitting on a Cub Cadet on the cover of the album!

Steve Bauer,

PTO bearing is likely going out and dragging excessively against the brake ring (do you hear a metal on metal sound as well?). Remove the belt, back off the adjusting bolts, and test spin the bearing (with no brake load). If it turns hard, it's out. Remember to readjust before using again.

The bearing can be replaced independent of the clutch assembly by carefully removing stamped staking on bearing race and sourcing a new bearing from NAPA, (about $30, IIRC).

Made the repair on a 20hp Mag with excellent results.

A properly adjusted clutch (and by default adjusted brake) should not drive when not engaged.

Charlie - yep that's the one! Also got a 20 page IH accessories catalog too the other day.

The wife (and kids) got me two advertisements from magazines for roundy cubs - can't wait till they get here!

Couple things: good things do indeed come from IL so KEEP EM COMING! And, would anyone happen to have a close up pic of the fiberglass seat with blue trim? Dropped mine off yest to have reupholstered and need to send the fella a pic to go by. Thanks.

Roy Drusky fans: That must be "Jody and The Kid(s)" in the picture??

What ever happened to "good Country Music" anyhow.? I have KWMT AM Ft Dodge IA on my radio permanent in the Cub House. You can listen on line as well. Sat morning is the best for the oldies.

Another day coming up in the shop. Gotta get the Gang all prettied up to go and sit by the road Sat morning to watch the border to border tractor-cade that is coming across Iowa on old HWY 20s this week. They will be in Iowa Falls overnite to nite, Waterloo Thursday nite, Manchester Fri nite then on to Dubuque on Sat and will be coming right through town. Thought they would get a kick out of seeing them all go by!! ha-ha!

DAVE S. - We need PICTURES of the tractorcade!

CHARLIE - Any more pic's of the aerator behind the seat in your last pic this morning? Looks kinda like the one I built. Wished I'd have had on-board hyd. when I built mine so I could have raised/lowered it like that one.

Denny, that was taken at PD1. I believe it was built by Pat Irlbeck.

Question - is the Carter N the correct carb for the 122 or was it a Carter 26? Thanks

Steve

Thanks. I did hear a metal sqealing noise when i shut it off the other day.

Thanks Charlie. Put a 26 on it but seems like I took an N off of it. Think I'll just leave it on and save the N for one of the 7 hp motors. Close enough. I gotta say that the more I play with these things the less I worry about the 100 pt refurb/restoration issue. Would like to keep my early O as original as possible but may tweak the others a teeny bit. For one, I've been bead blasting the carbs and they look so purdy I can't bring myself to paint them. Oh we'll - they look good to me!

KRAIG - Guess I was too busy dodging Wyatt on his 72 and chasing Chris Bennent around so I got in ALL his wife's great pictures @ PD #1. I never even saw Pat's aerator! That must be Dan H's 122 & crawler then.

Pat sure put a lot more spike wheels on his than I did on mine. Looks like he used 12, I only used seven. Mine makes a hole about every 4-1/2 to 5 inches in both directions, Pat's must make holes about 3 inches apart every 4-1/2 to 5 inches. More is better! I like his weight brackets too.

I've been tempted to make two more wheels for mine and widen it out to 40+ inches wide from it's current 30-32 inches. It's current width isn't a problem which ever tractor I pull it with, the 72 or 982, but wider would work better behind the 982, and the 72 would still pull it just fine.

I aerated twice last fall after the drought and with all this rain this spring my grass looks better than ever.

I ehco Kraig,, We do need pics of that parade

And now a 169 pic so the main page deos not feel lonely

Terry,
Take the 100 points and throw it out the window! If you want to work with and have fun with your tractors fix 'em like you like 'em. I'm not saying to butcher them up and put faucets on 'em for a hood orniment like this.

Yes it's very cool the have a 100 pointer but you're always looking over you shoulder to make sure some kid isn't putting a scratch on it. At that point you should be putting it on a shelf and just look at it. I have a picture of a original Original from 1961 in my study, you don't get more 100% original than that.

Yikes! That is one funky hood ornament but haven't ruled out one of those Mack truck bulldogs just yet. I am hoping my Original is close (from 10 feet or so) but no way will it be 100%. One of the best things for me about tearing them down and starting fresh is that I'm hopeful when something breaks I'll have half a clue what went wrong. Thank Tom! Now it's nap time.
