i got the sheet that you sent regarding the 451 snow blower. i just got a reply from another source that i have the blower for sale. will the 190-451-100 fit a model 2544 as he put in the email.

Theo, if you enter 2544 in the Parts Lookup, (see the link above?) then click on the "Illustrated Parts List" it will open up the list and then click on the "Attachments" folder you'll see the list of snowblowers and other attachments that fit the 2544, sorry to say it lists a 42" model 341 snowblower but no 45" model 451.

Kraig is correct, it is a cultipacker, for breaking up clods and firming up the surface of the soil to retain moisture.
 
Tim - The hard rain dried up like it always does but the wind ... 75 minutes without juicetricty and tried to go out again just now. Sirens all up the road three times ... I'd say trees are hitting the ground and these buttheads aren't slowing down.
We went from 51* @ 5pm to 63* @ 10pm ... headed toward 22* over night.

If that is a cultipacker it isn't like the one I use to pull. Ours was the type with the multi disc facing each other with the high center. That one looks more like a clod buster than a packer.

My 102 has the ser. no. stamped (ever so lightly) into the cast pad in front of the casting no. on the right side. Like me (I almost gave up), you might have to scrape a heap thickness of paint to uncover it.

Kraig - at your convenience. thanks I have 2 guys at work that have john d***es and I want to have a constant scroll of cubs for my screensaver. you know for interesting conversation. the one guy was giving me some crap because it is 40+ years old and its not green. i told him i paid 1/10th for mine of what he paid for his and in 40 years his probably wont be running

graeme - I looked there, but of course i was bending over with a flashlight so who knows. there was no paint on it just some surface rust. i plan on tearing the tractor down this summer, so i will look closer especially if it stamped very lightly. but thanks

i knew i could count on the forum.
 
Graeme - NOT! That's just a casting number not the SN.
I always catch those when I take the ol lady fishin ...

KENtucky, Graeme is saying the SN is lightly stamped in on the raised block. It's interesting, the 70/100 had the SN stamped in just ahead of that raised block. And the 1x2/3 were supposed to have it on the rear of the transmission on a stamped metal label mounted on the rear in one of two locations. SN LOCATIONS

BUT why did his 102 have it stamped in and not on a tag at the rear ?? Maybe not the correct rear end ???
 
KENtucky, exactly the reason I asked him for the SN. Then again he's in OZ....

Burrr, it was -17°F this morning at my place.
 
Kentucky; Hope you survived the storm. I had 70 or 80 mph winds. Trees down all around my new truck. It went from 62 to 32 degrees in 1 hour then on down to 12 this morning Electricity out all night. My 147 will get A workout pulling brush.
 
Jason H., first batch is off. BTW, you mentioned that yours has wide front tires, those were optional on the 102. I used to have a 102 that had the wide fronts, sold it to a forum member many years ago, kinda wish I had it back... Here's what my 102 looked like, I'll send you the high resolution version of this and other photos of it.

Graeme, what is the suspect sn.? does it jive with the correct range for model 102? Kraig, the sn on my 100 is directly on the pad. I think the location of these #'s probably changed slightly depending on the guy doing it at the plant, of course Graemes tractor could be a real low # 102 that was made during the change over from the 70/100 models.

The early 70/100 had the S/N stamped into the gear reduction housing in a vertical line. The later 70/100 and some (early ?) 1x2 had the S/N stamped into the squarish raised pad like Graeme says his is. I don't know how long the numbers were stamped there on the 1x2's, but I have had several with the number there rather than on a tag. The numbers on that pad are only about 1/8" high, and evenly spaced, and some cannot be seen without scraping the paint off.
 
Paul, I had a feeling there may have been some cross over in the SN location as Henri suggested, thanks for confirming.
