I have obtained an aluminum Rearend from a 782 Diesel. From what I can tell it must have the following Fine Spline Carrier and Axles inside. Am I correct? I borrowed the pic...

How can you tell if you have fine spline carrier. My 782 (708453) was built by MTD but was early enough that it has a cast iron rearend. Does that mean it automatically has the coarse spline.

Adrian-

It probably has fine-spline axles and carrier, but the carrier is the older design like the IH cubs use, and not the bolt-together one in Vince's picture. From what I've read elsewhere, it's a bit weaker than the setup that came in the aluminum rears, but still stronger than the coarse spline axles.
