Got deck on and new belt
Tightened it up till both pulleys on front were about same off the front metal bracket. Used it for 1 min and blades would slow down tgen pick up speed with belt smoke. Any ideas ?

Digger knows what he's talking about. Your belt is to long, You have the adjuster run up till you ran out of thread and it's still not tight. When the belt is right and you adjust the pulleys to be even the belt should come of the pto pretty much straight down, not angled to the front like it is. Also the 2 notches on the spring loaded idler bracket should be on either side of the front bracket. Get the right belt.

Some guys have good luck with aftermarket belts, others (myself included) haven't had as good of luck and buy the Cub belts. For you the important thing is to get the right size belt, the one you have is to long.

In your other thread you were having trouble getting the mule and hanger on the tractor. Are you sure everything is installed correctly? I'm not familiar with the Haban decks and don't know if it's even possible to install incorrectly, but if it could it would explain not being able to tension the belt correctly.

If by deck frame you mean the mule drive and hanger then bigger idler pulleys would help. Maybe someone knows what diameter pulleys should be on yours and then you can see what you have. Or just put the bigger pulleys on and see if that makes the difference.

From the parts lookup Spndncash linked to in your other thread the belt should be 954-3023 which Cub lists as .660 wide by 93.13 long so a little fatter than 5/8 (sits higher in the pulley) and a little shorter than 94. The idlers are 756-3003 which are 4" diameter. What size are the ones you have on there?
