just got home with a 60 " deck, it is off a 1872 and I want to put it on my 1882. im taking off a 50 " deck and installing this 60 . will the drive belt need to be changed and any other modifications needed ?

decks that have blades overlapping the cutting circle of another blade must be timed otherwise they will strike each other. These decks typically have belts and pulleys with teeth in them to maintain the timing (sometimes gears). The layout on your deck has the blades staggered. The blade cutting circles only overlap when the mower moves forward and backward. So you are correct, the mower will miss some of the grass but as soon as you move it all gets cut
