Hi,

I'm new here, and I hope someone can give some advice. I have a Cub Cadet 2166 that needs some work.

One of the ball joints mounted to the lower steering arm has separated. I guess they have a limited period where the ball pivots in the socket before something wears out from lack of lube. It is a pity they don't make them easier to lubricate, a zerk, or other type of fitting would be nice.

Anyway, I am going to get parts and replace both of the ones on the lower steering arm. Before I get the work started, I was wondering if I will have to remove the lower arm? Or, can I work around it - simply removing the deck and working from underneath - is there enough room to get my hands and tools where they need to be?

I'm trying to keep extra work to a minimum. Any helpful hints will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed
