I finally got my 2084 back to running order, but discovered that when I fill the tank all the way full, it starts pouring out over the rear axle. The culprit: a deteriorated low fuel sensor bushing.

The fuel sensor doesn't work, and I don't particularly care for replacing it. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking of just ordering a universal #9 or #10 solid rubber plug, remove the sensor completely, and just plug that hole once and for all. The OEM gasket (PN 759-3616 was replaced by 735-0699) says it's 1.7" in diameter...

You seem determined to do what you want to do but why? How do you know the sensor is bad? Did you check the bulb on the dash to see if it is blown?

Simplicity uses the same grommet. #5022917X1SM as I have used one to fix mine. Only $5.00

Stens carries those fuel rank grommets. $2
