I have a 2072 that i had just got running and found out that the alternator had shorted out causing me to blow fuses. well it had been running great just not charging which i was fine with cause i dont have the money to fix it at the moment, but i was pulling it out of the garage this morning to do some yard work it fires fine like it always does and i go to pull it out and it all of sudden stumbles and dies. It was able to start it up but with full choke and half throttle. But ounce it fires can usually close the choke and itll run but when i did that it just dies and know i can't get it to start it has fuel but no spark i need some haelp really soon.

Alex: Your predicament reminds me of the time I discovered my gas filter needed to be replaced.

Are you sure you're getting a full flow of fuel TO the carb?

Generally, these engines don't run without a good, charged battery. My kt17 powered 782 refused to charge for years. I called it my electric mower because I had to charge the battery before every use. It would run great until the amperage got low enough that it would suddenly start running "flat". If you didn't idle down and run for the shed, I be stuck with no power quickly.

I assume you have been charging between uses, but the battery could not be taking it well anymore.

On another note. I also had a very similar appearing problem that ended up being water in the gas tank and ultimately the carb bowl. It would run great until it used enough gas in the bowl to get into the water, then blah.... Wouldn't run over half throttle without the choke. Let idle, then back in business until it got into the water again.

Hope you get it figured out.
