might be buying a 1872 with a bad 50 " deck. I just installed a 60 " deck on my 1882. so I have a 50 " deck off my 1882 that I hope would fit on the 1872...question is which machine would the 60 " deck be better on ?

I had an 1872 with a 60" (Haban) deck back in the 90's. That was some machine. The M18 handled the deck really well and I loved the 1872 power steering. I would'a kept that tractor except I could never find any snow attachments and didn't want to pay the dealer a $$$GRAND for a 54" blade.
Now, if it was me and already had the 60" deck on the 1882, I'd leave it and use as a dedicated grass machine. That deck is a real monster to be moving around by hand - I always had to have my son help me.

Wow 110 inches of mowing deck...do you own a golf course? I feel the 1872 has more durable front bodywork, but I only owned a 782 and 2182. they look similar to yours but may be entirely different. If You are going to mow with both AND one deck is more likely to be used near things you may crash into put that Deck with The 1872. MY 2182 body work and has just fallen apart over the years without a single impact. I have had to replace 3 sides, 1 hood, and 2 fronts.
