I have an 1862 here to repair for a friend. the cub will make a snapping noise when the hydro handle is moved to get the cub to move faster or changing to reverse ! i also have to repair the brakes , it is missing the spring and the brake rod is bent.I would like to speak to someone about this cub if possible. Thanks Don T

I have my friends 1862 here with the K Mag, I never liked the way this ran and I cleaned the Carb with Sea Foam and reinstalled ,. I have 1268 Idle and 3300 wot no load .I see I should have 3600 no load and 3350 full load by the book.No to see if I can get this to rev a little higher at wot. It does seem to fall on its face when taken from wto to idle quick. Is this normal ?I does sond better running so far , But I would like to have it running by the book. It will sit in an unheated shed till needed for the snow blower a 450. All ideas welcome

Don,

The fixed jet carbs run lean and therefore often do not transition well until fully warmed up.

Best way I've found to make an 18Mag run well is to put a KT17 carb on it.

Steve Blunier "Mr. Plow" (Central IL)

Thanks for that. If I can`t get this running any better I will get another carb and give that a try.
I do like the power steering but that's about it. I like my cubs better. When this gives up I will have power steering for my loader. It has 685 hrs now. Thanks again

, I have got a phone call from a local guy that owns a 451 snow blower on an 1862. He said the lift bracket broke. Took some time till I could get at what he needs. He said the one that takes the two bolts . So he needs 603-0027 and two 710-3250 I would say with out seeing what he broke( no Lift) . Can this bracket still be had ? Or should we just try to make one? Thanks Guys

This is what I need as soon as I can find one. This is the lift arm bracket for a 1862 and a 451 snow blower 603-0027 in parts look up. It is marked 719-3097 on the back of the bracket.

I will have to do some calling around to see if this part can still be bought. I hope its not NLA.

Pictures work better so here it is, part number 32 in this drawing. Thanks Don

I need this asap.

You need to find CC 603-0027 lift bracket on a dealer shelf or other source for this winters use. MTD has them on back order,Debbie said maybe March. My local CIH dealer has on backorder since 12/23/2010. Parts Tree has to order from MTD/CCC. Good luck, there's one on a shelf somewhere.

Help !!!

Did an oil change, filter ,air filter and spark plugs.Got the parts from alocal hysavana dealer and he swars that the tractor takes this plug RC 12yc Champion. the tractor has a Mag 18 engine serial number 2133606236 . Here is a picture of the plugs I removed ( the short threaded ones)

Do these long plugs look to long ?

RC12YC is only for the Commands, not the Magnum twins. The 1862 uses RV17YC Champions. And no you do NOT need to pull the engine to replace the head gaskets Don. As I said, think of the old Magnum twins as 2 K241's flipped 90 degrees.( one each way) Removing the heads is so similar to doing that on a single cylinder Kohler.

I got it back running , seems the pug wire came off and caused the skip ,lol owner panicked and had me look at it today. I will have to get the correct plugs and install them. Thanks A bunch guys , I kind a pissed me off the I gave the guy all the info (engine numbers) and he still got it wrong (bummer). Then there wrench junky argued with me . I first looked around to see who was there before I put him in his place . lol I bet after I made a fool of him in front of his fellow workers and his boss , I don`t think he will open his pie hole again when I`am there. The boss just smiled lol. I`am so glad I found this site for the correct info. Thanks Guys.

But it brings up a question. With the new plug sticking so much further (according to the threads) into the cylinder - isn't that a bad thing? Or were the old plugs wrong in the first place?

Frank A. Currier(Northern Maine)

The old plugs were not correct and would not enter into the head far enough to clear the threads. I will get another set and install them. It is hard working on something that you don`t know the history of.
