My neighbor has an 1862 with lots of hours. He is looking to replace the engine. What is the difference between the two engines, both of which I have found on the net? Thanks
 
The QS probably has the flat, square air filter. Without knowing the original application or spec, your guess is as good as mine as to what is different with regards to crankshaft dimensions, availability of driveshaft mounting interface on flywheel, etc.
