The aluminum casting would be the difficult part to replicate. The sheetmetal parts are not very complicated.

As to the JD one, why? The correct parts are easy to find.

They are not difficult to make (or find). I have a used set that has some cracks, but will still work, or can be used for patterns. PM me if you are interested.

I had a 212 sitting here when I rebuilt the one I mentioned on the other post. The Deere box was wider-at least the aluminum frame on the side of the engine was-than the Cub box.

When I got my 1650, the cover was "spider veined" with stress cracks, especially at the screw holes. I had a piece of fairly heavy gauge stainless steel sheet metal hanging around ( about 3\64" thick ) and I used it. I bent it in a sheet metal brake and replicated the old one and used stainless screws with "shake-proof" O.D. toothed washers to secure it.
I wish I was where the tractor is to share some pics, but it's 800 miles north of me at my house in Oregon at the moment.
