Look at the rear end-axle housing--if you can see the brakes on the end of the axle housing you have external brakes. If nothing is attached to the axle housing you have internal (wet brakes)

Don't do it!!! You will be setting your deck up for instant disaster. Follow advice--- don't mow wet grass--clean deck by removing from tractor and scrape the wet grass off that you should have not cut to begin with. No big deal to removing the deck. I use a wood (paint stir stick) to remove...

    CUB 108 Starter Generator

Charlie ( CC Specialty) has a early style end cap that has a bearing---not bushing. Direct replacement for bushing style. Bearings are all sealed now which eliminates the dirt problem with the very early units. Bearing units now live forever---well almost.

    Electronic ignition?

Have a Kirks Engine unit on a 321 with a Bosch coil--been running for 3 yrs. Super fast start, runs smooth, no problems at all. I agree with Greg on the Pertronix unit. Have on a 1956 Century boat-far superior to stock ignition. Just follow instructions-don't reinvent the wheel.

Is there a better one of the IH Cadets?

Just wondering-- when you say the fine splined axles are more durable--under what condition. I have three old units--104,106 and124-all must have about a zillion miles of grass cutttin and have never had any trouble with the axles.
