    Cub Cadet 147 Refurb/Mod

Thought I'd better add a few pics to keep this thread from dying. Painted the wheels, mounted tires, put them on the project... Still in stasis:

Hey Cubbie!! I could actually start the engine now, just haven't. This project is literally in cold storage until the high desert NM winter is over. Oh, I define winter as anything lower than 60 degrees...

    Cub Cadet 147 Refurb/Mod

Hey Cubbie! It's slow going, since I retired I've taken on many different projects including this one. I'm making slow progress as I try to fit all my work into 16 hours a day. Here's the latest: I decided the 7/16"-20 IH CC147 lug bolts were too miniscule. I like something larger, much...

    Cub Cadet 147 Refurb/Mod

Here's a video of the new front end in (limited) action. The linkage to the steering box is mounted on the wrong side of the steering lever (my support that holds the tractor up is in the way), but it served as a decent test:

    Cub Cadet 147 Refurb/Mod

I started the front-end transformation from the drop-axle spindle to an axle that sticks out of an actual spindle. Here's the original mock-up of a king pin spindle and its mount (sans axle) to the front axle beam: Welded up (with the "driver's side" steering arm attached, also with new...

    Cub Cadet 147 Refurb/Mod

Here's the completed adapter/connector for the DuroMax flywheel to CC147 hydro input shaft. This is straight off my lathe and mill (I actually TIG welded [with no filler rod] on the lathe to assemble while machining) and hasn't been thread-chased, de-burred, fully/finish welded, etc... Fits...

    Cub Cadet 147 Refurb/Mod

Hey Charles-- I might mount an 8"-9" fan blade on the front side of the motor, but I haven't looked closely enough at the original internal DuroMax fan (which may be more efficient at cooling than anything I could mount externally) to determine.
