Torque value on a spindle nut

I must be missing something, because when I tighten the blade nut to 50 to 60 ft lbs this is too tight for the bearings. The assembly is virtually lock up. Is there a good video on you tube that shows the assembly of the older type spindles? thank you

Thank you. And one follow up question- the Flat washer listed as #5 in the parts breakdown...is this washer beveled to act as a locking washer?

Torque value on a spindle nut

I have the 42" deck which came on my 1993 Cub 1641. I rebuilt the spindle assemblies. These are the old type. Is there a torque value on this nut? I overtightened them initially and burned up my bearings. Note, I did buy a couple shims. thank you

    42" mower deck repair on a 1993 Cub 1641

No they were tight after I installed the nut on the bottom to secure the blades. I figured they were tight because they were new and needed to set it.

    1684 any good ?

Digger, I thought those B&S Vanguard V-Twin engines were tough and had plenty of power. I have the 1641 and was thinking of a bigger deck some day. What gives? thanks, Kelly in Piedmont SC

new member with a 680 Hydro, thanks for letting me join

I have the Hydro 680 with the 38" deck - 35719X 38C, serial number 0320025U. The "PTO to deck" belt belt currently slips under load. I want to get the correct belt this time. I have identified PN# IH-473462-R4 3/8" x 81" as the belt to order. Can someone verify this? thanks
