    Winter, 2019-2020

The first thing my father in law told me about it was to not wrap your thumb around the starter handle. When it doesn't want to start I get a real sweat worked up, fortunately it tends to start pretty quickly

    Winter, 2019-2020

Great looking machine! My father in law has a WC that he used to develop his property in northern MN. I believe the plow blade is custom made from a DOT plow truck blade. It has hydraulic lift, gravity handles the dropping of it. It used to be used for plowing the driveway as well, but they now...

    Not a pretty sight!

That sounds like where you would find it on a 70, see: International Harvester Cub Cadet FAQ

    Not a pretty sight!

That's a slick engine mount setup. If/when I ever get after a rebuild of a K241 I might have to make up something like that. Fortunately the little Tecumseh AH520s and AH600 Toro Snowpup engines that I have been working on bolt right on the the 1" square tubing that make up one of my tables...

    Ignition System Updates

I replaced some components of my ignition system recently, thought I would share some pictures I took. It definitely starts easier, and I think it sounds better while running as well. Parts were from Kirk Engines. I made myself a bracket to hold the coil because I was struggling to get...

    tire chain alternative

Thanks, it certainly does help. I find myself at tractor supply once every couple of months, whenever I come up with an excuse (which it sounds like I just did :))

    tire chain alternative

lol! I'm working on adding a little more to hang off the rear, and I've already got 75lb on each side!

    tire chain alternative

I have been taking video with my GoPro of me plowing mine and my neighbor's driveways and posting them on Instagram (@johns_jeep_junk), but I thought I would put a couple on YouTube and share them here. My first time plowing, and we had 2 vehicles in the driveway as well as mine in the garage...

    tire chain alternative

I was trying to think of where I might find some thick rubber like I see on some plows, that's a great idea!

    "Beginner" Machinist Tool Set

I have not made any decisions/purchases with regards to some machining tools, but I am definitely still thinking about it. I am a bit limited with floor space in my garage so part of me is thinking any major purchases might wait until we move, which we plan on doing this spring to have more...

    tire chain alternative

The TerraGrips have been working great, though there is a little rubbing of the mounting chains against the inner fender on the right hand side. I also installed the shorter wheel weight bolts, plastic "shoes", and a plastic (UHMW) blade installed to try to be gentler on my paver driveway. It...

    New Year's Resolution (s)

I don't normally do anything for a resolution but I came up with something I think I should try this year (and going forward): keep my tools off the ground. I have a bad habit of setting stuff on the ground which means it gets dirty and often stepped on. Anybody else have holiday/new year goals...

Wanted: IH Cub Cadet Blade (42") parts

I would be interested in the rock shaft, second item from the left in the second to last pic. If you are willing to weigh it for a shipping estimate let me know what you want for it and the shipping cost!

    IH Trailer identification

Thanks for the info! I have an email out to see if I can pick it up. My wife likes it so no reason not to grab it!

    Steering Wheel Removal

Good to hear my bearing is (probably) OK, I will order up a set of spares to have on hand, but plan to leave that one as long as I can. Both wheela do need some shimming, planning to pick some shims up today if the hardware store carries them, else I will order from McMaster Carr.

    Steering Wheel Removal

I've not previously worked with bearings, but I know my trailer is due for a repacking so it's time to learn. Proof of my inexperience working with bearings: Hammer + Impact Socket are not a replacement for a proper press. Looks like I'll be placing another parts order soon! I got the other...

    Steering Wheel Removal

I appreciate all the advice from everyone, I'll report back with my findings! Until then we probably don't need to pick at each other, given we all know we have at least one thing in common

    IH Trailer identification

Stumbled across what is reported to be an IH trailer on Craigslist, but I don't see any manuals that seem to match it on ccmanuals.info, and a google search brought be back to an archived post from here about a IH #3 cart. That trailer looks similar, except that the front of the bed of the CL...

    "Beginner" Machinist Tool Set

The more I think about what I really want to do, the more I am thinking I might think about other tool additions that might get more use while waiting for a really good deal on a mill or lathe. Plasma Cutter and Shop Press (Hydraulic) come to mind...
