    Gardens 2020

Thanks for the advice! I had heard of 'Soil Solarization' but had not looked into it. Seems easy enough to do, and valuable. I don't recall seeing anything that looks like Common Purslane, but I will definitely keep an eye out for it.

    Portable generator input.

Do you have a transfer switch to hook the genny up to the well, AC, etc. ?

    Gardens 2020

My wife and I are looking to get a garden going on our property next spring. This year was pretty busy getting moved in, selling our old house, and tackling some other things around the house. I think I have the area picked out, and am searching for some implements to help prepare the land. So...

    Portable generator input.

I just picked up a bigger Generator this past Friday from Costco. It's a brand I am unfamiliar with but it had some good reviews. I've not had the "opportunity" to give it a real load just yet, but I plan to try out my welder on it (Miller Multimatic 211) sometime soon here. The welder was a...

For all you Dad's out there!

Thanks! Here's a pic of the little guy who made me a father. He likes sitting on the Cub, but gets upset when he hits the center of the steering wheel and there is no horn noise like on his toy "motorcycle"

Truckin' and Trailerin' our Cub Cadets

Better than I get in my Jeep Wrangler! Then again my commute (when I used to actually commute) was all stop and go, and I've got a lead foot ;)

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

Thanks for the detailed response! I was hoping to rent a BX series tractor for some work this weekend, as sort of a trial run, but the local rental place doesn't have anything smaller than an L3xxx series. Unfortunately it's almost double the cost and may be a bit too big for the area I need to...

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

My wife found a Cub 123 with what looks like a Johnson loader on Facebook. Tractor, loader, a small garden trailer, and a trailer to haul it all are a $3k package. It's certainly appealing given that I love Cubs, and it's a small footprint. It had a weight box and dualies to help offset the...

A place for random photos,,,with no specific topic

I've been meaning to pick up a trail cam. are yours hooked up to cell service or offline/SD card? I was leaning towards SD card without cell service to save some money...

E-Z Rake 40 Dethatcher for Cub Cadets

Very cool! If I was a closer (I'm in MN) I would probably be interested!

    New project

I just dug out the issue, it was the Winter 2020 issue that had a Cadet 60 restore/repower article titled "Still Making Hay"

    New project

Those things are neat! They were featured in a recent Cadet Connection issue I think, or it could have been in an older back-issue that I had ordered with some 107 wiring diagrams... Either way it was a cool article.

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

I don't think I had heard of the Johnny Bucket until I read your post. I did a little bit of looking into them, they look pretty slick!

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

I'll check out those lines, I was only seeing pretty large machines when I briefly checked out those brands, maybe I wasn't looking in the right place! I don't have a pole shed (yet) so ideally I can find something with a fold down ROPS to get it in my garage.

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

I have heard good things about Yanmar, I wonder if they have a dealer nearby. Good point on the at-home repairability of older machines. I am looking for something with a good dealer close by if I go newer for that exact reason. I have not ruled out an older machine if I can find something with...

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

I have but so far they seem considerably more expensive than a tractor with a loader, granted it's not an apples to apples comparison. I've not ruled out a skid steer but I am leaning more towards a tractor. That said, someone in my neighborhood has an old international skid steer, saw him...

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

thanks for the info! I've been thinking about doing a rental. If the BX models available have loaders I will definitely try them for the $100/day that they are asking

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

I've read horror stories of "other" brands sitting dead in the yard waiting on parts while the homestead or yard is neglected. I'll be looking for something more widely supported for that exact reason. New Holland and Case/IH come to mind as alternatives but realistically I don't see their...
