    "Beginner" Machinist Tool Set

Thanks for the info Matt! Honestly, I am not even sure yet, which is not very helpful when giving me advice :) I think it would be super cool to make my own stuff out of metal beyond cutting and welding. Some "beginner machinist project" lists seemed to have some cool ideas, like slide...

    "Beginner" Machinist Tool Set

Howdy, I have really enjoyed the basic metal fabrication I have done so far; cutting, bending, welding, tap & die sort of stuff. I would like to get a little deeper into machining, and happened to win a drawing at work recently so I have a little money to throw at the idea. I am thinking the...

    Sheds and Shops

That's my dream when we get some property and I can build a pole shed. I have heard great things about in floor heat but no personal experience.

    Steering Wheel Removal

I suppose I would save me quite a bit on gas! Plus, it might dangerous being that close to all those parts you stock that I "need" ;)

    Steering Wheel Removal

With the amount of time I've spent so far, I might just drive up there and see how much I gotta bet ya :ROFLMAO:

    Steering Wheel Removal

Thanks for the tip! I actually have a heat gun so I can leave hers inside (y) I have been on the lookout for some kroil, didn't see it at Ace or Fleet Farm so far, maybe I'll just order some up online if Tractor Supply doesn't have it.

    Steering Wheel Removal

I was lucky the holesaw bit I had laying around was the right size, 1-1/2". My benchtop Ryobi drill press and bandsaw struggled a bit thru the thick hardwood, but made it. Can't wait to expand my shop space and get some full size tools.

    Steering Wheel Removal

When I purchased my new bearings (from CC Specialties) there were sealed options. They may not be OEM, but they are out there!

    Steering Wheel Removal

I started making a puller with some scrap hardwood, then got sidelined by some kind of stomach flu for the past couple of days. Hoping to be back at it the next couple of evenings. I'll need to trim it back a bit, and grab a harmonic/bolt type wheel puller. Close inspection and lack of any...

    Sheds and Shops

Sounds simple and effective! Is it freestanding or framed within another room/garage? I have toyed with the idea of insulating a little section of my garage but it really isn't too bad even in our MN winter as long as I wear my insulated bibs.

    Tractor Lifts

Has anybody here worked much with Strut Channel? I would love a big I beam and trolley but that's not going to happen in my current garage, but I could probably rationalize some strut channel and trolleys to get a sort of a trolley hoist setup. I already have a chain hoist and drill powered...

I was indeed thinking of the Lift Rockshaft, thank you for catching that and pointing that out.

Cub Parts For Sale or Trade for Wheel Horse Parts. Central IL

I would be interested in the 107 Lift Frame carriage but unfortunately I am not located near you. I am not sure it would be cost effective, but would you be willing to ship it?

    Tie rod ends

Dang I just put in a McMaster Carr order last night! Oh well I'm sure I can find some other stuff I need :)

    Steering Wheel Removal

Good to know. I will make sure to keep on top of the new ones.

    Steering Wheel Removal

I noticed my front wheel bearings seemed a bit loose, so I decided to take the front wheels and steering components apart. Looks like I'll have "opportunity" to remove slop outside of the main steering shaft. New bearings and Heim joints are on order.

    Steering Wheel Removal

That's one method I've been trying, except the bolt I have in my air hammer goes into the steering shaft so it doesn't pop out. I might try putting a bolt in like that video, worth a shot!

    Steering Wheel Removal

I'll check out that video, thanks for sharing! I've been alternating between the two methods on the FAQ, maybe it just takes some more patience and persistence.
