Wanted to say thanks for those that helped me repair my model 70 shifter. Yesterday we mowed the green areas, and those that used to be green ,but now crunchy! Sometime ago I bought the grandson a model 123 not running for a project tractor. Somebody had started to take it apart then gave...

Thanks Kraig. It might be that the previous owner (long ago)had this apart as the retainers on mine are turned upside down to the drawings. Like you it's hard to imagine why the O rings between the reatiners and spring. This and a little touch up paint are that is left to put the shifter back in...

Thanks Frank, but that drawing same as the TC-133 drawing has misled me also the way it's shown. The part 3* is actually underneath the the entire housing assembly. I do think your correct about water travelling dwon the shaft into the transmission. I suspect that's what the O rings are for...

Sorry to take up so much time on the forum, about something that would be so simple, and straightforward to most of you here. The model 70 shifter repair came out good. I primed and painted knowing it would be scratched reassembling the spring area. Will clean that up after it's complete...

Hope to reinstall my model 70 shifter assembly tomorrow. I was thinking that I didn't need gasket cement on the gasket since the oil level is well below this point. Does that sound right?

Now that things are looking better (already had the shifter mig welded). I wanted to ask that question about my shifter forks before I start to close this area up. I am not sure what they should look like, but it just seemed that they looked bent. If they are bent is there an easy way to put...

Tom thanks. I got the pin out as best I could. I slowly tapped the spring over the spring retainer in photo 1 to get access to the pin. Don't now how I'll get it back on with ruining any new paint? After cleaning the cup up a little I found a hair line crack. Hope to find a welder soon. Thanks...

After soaking the shifter overnight I was able to use the C clamp method to remove the pressed in bottom. The cup is broken away all the way around from the shift lever, but otherwise looks repairable with welding. I am at another scratch my head point. How to I get the pin out in the photo...

So if I understsnd it corectly I need to somehow slide down that spring I have between pin #2 and part #3. remove pin 2. Once pin #2 is out does the shifter rod slide out throught the bottom? I guess that's why I see in another post a C clamp used to remove the pressed in bottom. To allow...

Thanks everybody so far so good. Getting there!! Taking the breather cap off gave me just enough room to pull the rearend back. I now have the shifter assebmbly off and can see from ther bottom that the cup is broken free. Trying to understand how to take this apart. My shift lever has what...

No I started with the breather cap on. Sounds like your going to suggest I remove it. I left it on hoping to keep out any dirt.

Taking a breather it's hot. Got the roll pin out, and I can spin the starter and most of the time the drive shaft woudl turn in the coupler. I disconnected the clutch/break linkage, but just cannot get the rear end to back out. I am able to lift the frame up to be sure it wasn't hung up on the...

Dave thanks. At least I am doing somethig right. I did find a small opening in the frame where I can just get a punch on the roll pin from the side, but it won't budge. Going to try spraying some PB blaster on it and see if that helps.

Finally have a "little" time (not much)between projects to see what's up with my model 70 shifter. Its got the optional creeper drive installed. Just to make things easier for me I removed the fenders and seat. Tom Hoffman kindly responded James, You don't really have to split the...

Well I took a quick look and realize that I will need to split the tractor to get at the harware holding down the shifter . Don't mind doing it it's just the time.

Dennis thanks I found it with your information. I'll reread it again, sounds like I can go in from the top to see what's going on. I would never have thought shifter cup. Thanks again Dennis.

Some advice please. Tuesday afternoon after the grandson had finished mowing the lawn for me I found the shift lever on my model 70 spinning around like a helicopter. I can find the gears and move it forward and reverse so I'm hoping it's not to bad of a repair. I am in the middle of "honey...

Guys the neutral safety switch release strip broke on my model 125. It's part #3. Judging from what I can see with an inspection mirror it looks like it's held onto the shaft with a spirol pin? Doesn't appear to be much room to hammer out a pin upward and certainly not downward. Thanks for any...
