Kraig here are a few more photos. Trying to think if the previous owner(s) could have changed something. Things like is the length of the tension bolt too short, or did somebody change the tension spring to a smaller one.

I have would should be a non problem, but I can't get by it. I am trying to attach a 48" mower deck to a 125. I have the deck attached to the sub frame, but the main drive belt from the PTO to the center pulley is banjo tight. I cannot loosen the adjustment any more. I am using what I think is...

Billy A, I've got a Sterling propane heater that I am going to hang from the ceiling next week if all goes as planned. Need to rent a hole cutter for the pipe. My walls are 2x6 no windows save for the insulated overhead garage doors, and all my wiring will be surface mounted conduit. I don't...

Marty, you have a great looking 70 there. Something for me to aim for. Not sure why the colors are different. When I bought it years ago the fenders were on backwards. Didn't realize it until I joined this forum. Yes I plan to take it all apart rebuild what is needed, and repaint. It's my...

Guys thanks for the heads up on the Harbor Freight dollies. I ran down and bought 8 while they were on sale. They worked perfectly. I can move the cubs easily, and change directions without any problems. Going to be so much easier in the garage. Need to get new front tires I am surprised with...

Allen thanks. Tonight I saw that coupon for the furniture dollies for $8.99. I don't think I could buy caters for that low price. I'll give them a try.

    Mig Welder size?

Guys I apologize for not responding to my own post. Crazy busy here trying to finish off my garage, and finally have something heated to work in. The Millermatic 212 auction was a bust. The price started at $500, and flew by me like a jet plane. Buyer paid a couple of hundred bucks off of new. I...

Finishing the inside of my garage, and to save some valuable space I wanted to slide two of my cubs under a shelf. I priced regular car tire dollies, and they are not inexpensive. I've tried some cheap snowmobile dollies that I had, but they pop out from under the tires if I try to change...

    Mig Welder size?

Just to add to the mix I just saw an as for an upcoming auction that includes a Millermatic 212. Looks like it will weld as small as 22 GA. Not sure it's a good fit for me, but if it is I was toying with the idea of driving down to see what if might sell for. What gauge do you think the hoods...

    Mig Welder size?

Thanks guys. Sounds like I am on the right track. From the looks of it both Lincoln and Miller must dictate the retail prices as no matter where you look the prices are very close. I've also checked Craigslist, and it's like a lot of things people want pretty much what a new unit would cost...

    Mig Welder size?

Thinking of a MIG welder, and since a lot of people on here restore Cub Cadets I am seeking your expert opinions on sizing the MIG. My cubs are models 70, 123 and 125. Researching it seems the biggest issue people have is buying to small. Is there also a problem with going to big? My gut leads...

Jim C I found the information for the CPE-2 parts catalog. Thanks again I never knew that existed.

Jim C thanks for that info. Can I ask what is the CPE-2 equipment catalog?

    42" cast end deck restore

I have finally started to dig into my model 70, 42" cast end deck. I stripped it down and have been trying my hand at electrolysis. I've been using a plastic trash barrel standing the deck vertically 1/2 section at a time. It's coming out pretty good: some places are down to bare metal and...

Harry you are 100% correct. Looking at the deck today it's steel, with a cast iron center rotor housing, and two cast end rotor housings.

Steve that solves the mystery for me. My deck is all cast iron. I finally located a picture of a similar deck all cast iron deck (in much better condition). There is no sign of the spring loaded tensioner. I'll take Harry's advice, and leave well enough alone. Thank you both!

I've got a mod 70 with a cast iron deck. Tip to tip on the blades is ~42" so it must be the 42" model. I'm doing maintenance work on it. My deck has the idler pulley #7 simply bolted into the slot on the deck skin. Parts look up shows a tensioner with parts #29, #30, and #31. I eyeballed my deck...

Here is the Grandson's 123. We took out the steering column to have a look see as it's a little sloppy. Should the tube from the steering box up and through the pedestal spin around 360 deg? We couldn't see anything to stop it from spinning. Somebody has replaced the transmission suction...
