My snow throwing video. My wife was operating the camera and changed the angle several times. I have tried to correct it which causes several odd movements. I know the belt squeals several times. It was brand new and needed adjustment several times. The snow was kind of hard since I used...

I am making progress on my two PTO issues I described last week. With a new bronze PTO wear button and proper tightening of the two nuts on each screw, my PTO is working correctly again. I will wait until sometime this spring to deal with the vertical alignment issue with the PTO wear...

Thanks for the information about the nylock nuts on a PTO. I will stick with the two nut system. I almost bought a cheap wrench set today, to grind a thin one. I usually ignore the cheap things in the discount rack by the cashier, but I was thinking of this as I left Lowes..

I was able to diagnose one of my PTO issues. When trying different adjustments with the PTO clutch turnbuckle, I noticed that one of the fingers on the PTO was loose. I removed the PTO to find that several of the nuts were loose. I did not do a good job putting the 2nd lock nut on. This would...

I managed to look at the PTO clutch on my 127. There is no vertical play in the pivot so I still don't know why the wear button and thrust button are not aligned. I will look into raising the front casting like Lewis suggested. That won't happen until this weekend. Playing with the...

Rodney, I don't know if they lined up before. There was no wear button, so I always kept the clutch away from the thrust button. I will see if there is any vertical play in the clutch. I don't recall any as I was installing the wear button. Keith, After I check for vertical play I will try a...

Thanks Don. I used the Fiber button because that is what I had on hand. I will be placing an order for many things someday, and there will be several bronze buttons in there. I have other PTOs to work on. There were an equal amount of threads on each of the three adjustment screws. About 1/8...

Another PTO question, or two... The wear button was missing from my 127. I have always kept the PTO engaged so the clutch lever would not rub on the thrust button. This was OK until I bought a CC42 snow thrower. (Thanks Lewis!) I removed the PTO, rebuilt it and installed it. I also put on...

I purchased a used 12x20 "tarp" garage where the PO had bought two sets of the frame. He cut the 4ft horizontal pieces in half. Now there is an upright and roof support every 2ft instead of every 4ft. This means less sagging of the tarp under snow. I have not set it up yet. Bonnie...

Thanks Don, but I have the CC42 now. This is "lightly" used and stored indoors most of it's life. I'd rather have a non-QA thrower in good shape than a QA that needs work. Unless someone wants to trade... I'll use the CW36 manual for attaching instructions and for the lubrication guide.

I just picked up a CC42 snow thrower in decent shape. I have not been able to find a manual for it though. On http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/ I can see QA42, CW36 and BB36 but not CC42/CC36. Is the attachment similar to the CW36? I've been browsing the parts database which shows the attachment...

Kraig, Thanks for the Hydro schematic, I did find the lubrication section of the operators manual which mentions this area also. Over the weekend I removed the steering gear/column so greasing the speed control cam was easy. I also loosened the nut under the friction spring about a turn. It...

I just picked up a 125 that has been sitting outside for 3 years. It is in OK shape and I have gotten it to run after cleaning the carb. The hydro works well enough for being in the weather so long, however the neutral return doesn't work. I think there is something wrong with the cam in the...

Steve, I have not tried this on tires, but I have used Plasti Dip on other things. Their websites state that the coating remains flexible and it comes in white. http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip

Art, I don't know why my tries at finding the mystery part number in Google didn't return the same one yours did. So, now we know it is a bearing. I hate to open the package just to see what size it is. Maybe I'll take the bottom off so it still looks nice sitting on the shelf

I could use a little help identifying this mystery part. I found a small "can" labeled with an IH part number that I can't locate in the Cub parts lookup. While I don't know that it is a Cub Cadet part, it came with one of the Cub Cadets I have had for several years. All I have are Hydros now...

Thanks Ken and Dennis, I was afraid that removing the inner rod would require destroying it. Currently, the rod does move, but the spring is not strong enough to make it "pop up" after pressing it down. I will wet it with penetrating oil, it will be a couple of months before I am ready...

I have a question about cleaning and repairing the manul lift on a 147. This lift was added by my dad the year after he bought the tractor new in '71. The weight of the snowthrower damaged the electric lift. I have dismantled almost everything on this 147 and have been using electrolysis and...

Thanks for all the notes on the bent Neutral return rod. I have the service manual, but I have been looking at the parts manual for part identification. If I have any more questionable parts, I will check both manuals.

Thanks Bruce and Kraig, I'll get the torch warmed up and see what I can do. One more question, this time about the two check valves on the top of the hydrostatic unit. When the buttons/plungers on the valves are pressed, they do not pop back up. I can tap on the valve and they pop up...
