Wheel weights, it is that time of year, maybe a day or two too late! I have a 127 with the external brakes and I have 23x8x12 tires. Can I put a weight on the INSIDE of the rim? I have one on the outside and could add another but I would like to put it inside. My driveway was paved...

I left the needle bearings where they were and assembled the snow blower. The bearings for the gear box and the auger were replaced last year. Every thing turns smoothly, by hand, even the chute. I haven't attached it to my 127 yet. What oil/grease do people put on the chain? I know that...

I am putting a QA36 snow blower back together. I took pictures of everything before disassembly, except for one place. I bought new needle bearings for the shaft through the small sprocket and put them in the housing. They are flush with the out side edges, but not the inner edges. Does it...

I am disassembling a CC42 snow thrower to paint and prepare for winter. Yes, I am actually starting to get ready before Thanksgiving. I replaced the auger bearings and gearbox bearings last year but did not have time to paint. I started to remove the small sprocket mount with needle...

Thanks Kraig, Yes, a CC42 sounds right. It was discussed on this forum a few years ago when I first got it. I rebuilt the gearbox and the auger bearings to be ready this season. I haven't had enough snow to get it out yet. Maybe I'll do some clean up with it today.

Don, I have a ??42 snow thrower without the adjustment screw. It mounts like this picture from the CW-36 manual: My ??42 doesn't resemble the BB or CW series, and the gearbox is different from the the QA series. I bought a beatup QA-36A and moved the 42inch thrower to the QA gearbox...

New Job, plus a lot of typing

Not an ex-IBMer, but still working there after 37 years. I had a two year AAS in electrical technology degree when I started in a lab testing diodes. I don't think they would even look at my application today. There are so many graduates looking for work that big businesses can be choosy. I've...

Hello Eliza, No you are not the only New Yorker here. And i'm not that far from you. Since I didn't use my 127 with snowthrower this winter, do I need to service it next year ? Just kidding, I hope to get it painted before next winter. I have been asking local places for "slip plate"...

The Cola and Peanut Wars - which is Your favorite

Peanuts and Cola? I've never tried it. Do you mix them? Or do you just put a bunch of nuts in your mouth and sip the cola? What about Salted or unsalted? I don't drink much Coke or Pepsi so maybe I should stay out of this fight Most of the Coke I drink has some rum in it. Would that make...

1811 and a sickle bar mower, is it possible?

Hello a friend has a 1811 that he would like to add a sickle bar mower to. I know that there were sickle bars for IH cub cadets, but I have not seen one for the 1811. In searching the CCC and MTD part of the forum, I saw a post that a 1811 == a 18hp 782. If a sickle bar fits a 782, would it...

Dennis, My comment about using a NAPA muffler was for the non-stock vertical setup that is on my 127. I do wear hearing protection, but my thoughts were more about the quiet neighborhood I live in. Or did you mean that Charlie sells other mufflers? - I just browsed CC Specialties and he does...

With all the talk of mufflers and engine roar, is there a muffler for those who prefer a quieter ride? Please don't kick me out of the Cub Cadet owners club for asking such a question! I bought a new muffler from one of the site sponser for my 147, but I have not used it yet. I am sure...

Woe is me I dropped the 90deg gear box for my 1A tiller and chipped the lower pulley. I have started searching at the usual places (Site sponsor boxes at the top of the page) but have not found a replacement yet. I haven't made any phone calls yet since this happened Sunday evening, so...

Thanks Dave, If you are talking about the holes where Pin #1 and Steering Knuckles #6 and #7 go, I was planning on keeping paint out of them. The flat surfaces are what I was wondering about. But, maybe you were talking about the same areas that I was I tried to show some of them in this...

I have a painting question. I am getting ready to prime all the parts that have been sandblasted. What should I do with machined surfaces like on the front axle? Leave them alone? Paint like everything else?

Don, No, I don't have a repair in mind. For some reason I was thinking of your repair and decided to look for results. I use Fiberglass and Epoxy on my wood kayaks, so I have some around incase I ever need it.

Donald Tanner, Last October you were taking about using fiberglass to patch a snow thrower/blower. I've looked in the archives but I didn't see anything about results? Did you ever try it, and how has it held up?

Yes Lewis, the person who sold that snow thrower was a real gentleman It was in great shape when I got it from you, I hope I don't ruin it. I was running WOT. I'll get the tach out this weekend and check the RPMs.

One more snow throwing video. This one shows the distance the snow travels a little better. The snow was tightly packed from the plow clearing the road. I had to go slow to keep from over stuffing the snow thrower. If the next snow storm is dry like today's, I will switch back to the...
