David Clinansmith (Dclinansmith) sticking exhaust valve has been suggested before, but it does start right after a stall. but, i can try your suggestion.

Wayne Shytle (Wshytle) gas tank has been cleaned. fuel line is new. shut off is old. i am going to try the premium gas, im going to drain the tank and i will pull the shutoff and examine it. fuel is fresh. i just filled the gas can, which is another reason why I am leaning towards regular...

Luther Ray Hinds (Lhinds) condenser is new. and i just had it off and checked it while replacing the coil. will try squirting gas into carb when it starts to die, that would tell me if it was fuel related.

hey, what about the gas causing my problems? I use regular. you can not let the regular they sell around here sit in the carb, even with stabilizer. some guys use premium.I have been shutting the pet cock and letting the carb run dry. I had this same problem with my other mower and snow...

Terry Reed (Treed) I can suck and blow air through the gas cap, so that should rule out the cap, but i can try running with out one. as i said, i am going to try replacing the gas line with clear vinyl tubing, if something is restricting fuel to the carb, i will see the fuel stop flowing...

i know there is an MTD section. i meant, i would not ask in this section for help. and i would not pay more then 200.00 for an MTD anyway. i really want my 128, but my grass needs to be cut.

dont worry, i know better then to ask for help on here with an MTD. besides, for 200.00, when it breaks, throw it away.

tomorrow i am either going to try replacing the fuel line with clear vinyl tubing so i can see if the fuel flow is being interrupted, or, i am going to go look at some 200.00 MTD's ,they have on Craig's list, near me. as mush as i hate disposable things, if i can get one mowing season out of...

just ran for 10 minutes then stalled. so, it is not the coil. i doubt it is fuel, because it should stall when cold, too. but, i can check the fuel.

Gerry Ide (Kide) needing to be choked after a stall was one of the first things i noticed. i know a warm engine should not need to be choked to restart. i just rigged up the old coil with duct tape and a jumper wire ( + terminal broken, wont fit in new coil's bracket) will see if that...

it just died, with backfire, when it got hot. no, load. i was letting it warm up so i could check the RPM.s. which, i believe, rules out the governor. i do not see any new exhaust leaks. guess i will try to see if i can get the old coil on, but it has a broken terminal stud. maybe i will try...

128 with the second stalling problem. is there a way to check to see if the throttle cable is set right or is it trial and error? with engine off, when you move throttle control to full, it pushes the governor arm against the throttle on the carb, to full throttle. with the engine running...

Donald Tanner (Dtanner) pet cock is wide open. I have done a lot of work involving removing the tank and replacing the carb, so the pet cock has been opened and closed many times. it has not ben replaced, i suppose it could be clogging. but i did check last time i had a problem and i had a...

i will check points, and i just noticed something i had missed. i am not at full throttle. when i adjusted the governor, it moved the throttle adjustment and now it does not open the throttle fully. so, i will adjust the throttle, check the points, and try again. thanks for your help.

throttle control, on the dash, stops about halfway between full and idle. but, the governor linkage is against the idle screw on the carb, when the throttle is at half. do you think i should adjust the throttle cable? i mean, if the governor arm is against the screw, it wont go any further.

ok. off to check the throttle cable. the gov. moved a lot when i adjusted it, throttle might be out of whack now.
