KENtuckyKEN (Kweaver) ok. I will just try soaking again. it is a new carb, new gasket, so it still seals. tractor has not run long enough with out stalling to wear out the gasket. I am considering buying a used , running engine. I will try that carb on my engine. if that sale falls...- fsnerd

i was just able to turn the high speed needle in to within a 1/4 turn of all the way in before RPM's changed, then 3 turns out, with no change in RPM's. that is not right, is it? could the high speed needle chamber be blocked, and only removing the welch plugs can clean it? with both...- fsnerd

govenor spring back to spec, playing with carb settings. tractor will not stall if i keep the choke about halfway, full throttle, mower on. runs rough, of course. which means too lean, correct? so i should turn the idle adjusting needle out, a 1/4 tun at a time, then try mowing and see if it...- fsnerd

thanks for the carb specs, but the original Kohler carb was replaced with a Walbro. WHG 7705308 731848 and I have the service manual for it. I will put the governor spring back to spec and try carb adjustments.- fsnerd

all i am trying to do is trouble shoot this in a way that eliminates possibilities. but every time i try, someone says to check something else first. so, eventually ,i will eliminate possibilities. the rust in the gas tank has been eliminated. the leak in the exhaust has been eliminated...- fsnerd

128 with the second stalling problem. it is better, i am getting somewhere. cleaned carb, duct taped a plastic gas tank from a push mower on it. it no longer stalls at idle. no longer stalls at full throttle, no load. so, it does appear the rusty gas was causing that problem. now it...- fsnerd

im not going to clean the tank. this tractor does appear to have every been serviced, which makes the tank about 38 years old. so, odds are, the acid will open up all the pin holes being plugged by the rust. and, I was already fooled by this tank once, a new tank eliminates the "rust from...- fsnerd

i just tried running it on premium gas, died in 10 minutes. i cleaned the carb bowl before, gas was rust colored, lots of particles, and after, not as bad,but still dirty, so, since you guys have been right before, and i have not been right yet, i guess i will replace the tank, disassemble carb...- fsnerd

thanks for all the tank cleaning tips, but i think i will just replace the tank. if i can get that engine off ebay for a decent price, i will just buy that. it might sell for less then a new tank. then i will have lots of spare parts. i saw used tanks for 100.00. yes, it would be great...- fsnerd

i did say i had good gas and a new gas line, and i do. the gas was only a week old, the gas lines were replaced when i bought the tractor, as they needed to be replaced. the gas tank was drained, rust flakes removed, when i bought the tractor.- fsnerd

well, this cant be helping. I drained the gas tank into my car, all but the last cup or so. when transferring gas, i never transfer all of it, in case there is water or crap in the bottom. the last cup gets discarded. so, i pour the last cup into a plastic garbage bag and look what i found...- fsnerd

will any k301 fit my 128? guy on ebay has a K301AS from a 123. mine is a K301A. looks the same except the gas tank appears to be attached to the engine.- fsnerd
