    Wow this place has changed

Unfortunately Facebook........it links everyone in one place. I can remember back in the late 90's when forums were the rage. Now, not so much. Many of the places I used to frequent are long gone. Times, they are a-changing.

Thanks Charlie. That hinge looks no different then a std hinge? What makes it better?? Black paint?? LOL! I am minutes away from Mcmaster Carr(I order regularly for work). They offer an abundance of variations of SS piano hinge material.

Doug, did a quick search. Couldn't find them. Not sure if I used the right keywords? Quietline or just Cub hinges? Do they look like a regular hinge or is a different design. I found one "used" quietline hinge but it didn't look much different then what I have. Incorrectly listed?

Earl, sounds like a plan. That was the issue I see, the pin is too small and wears too fast. Something a bit stouter would last longer. Something with nylon bushings would be great!! Ron, I poked around and couldn't find them, so I was going to ask Charlie about them. Thanks for the update.

Thanks Ron. I'll look into a Quietline hinge. Yes, the column support is getting worn and I suppose some kind of rubber would help with the wear.

Scott, agreed! You couldn't hear the engine over the deck bearings up til last summer. Now with those fixed, the hood drives me insane. I know the wear strip on the cowl, looks like there was some kind of foam/rubber strip for the hood to rest on is gone. The biggest problem is the front...

I've come to the conclusion that I know why so many people ran their old tractors with no hoods. My 149 is a rattl'n PAIN anymore. Someone had replaced the piano hinge at some time before my purchase. But it is again well worn and the hood just rattles to pieces while mowing. Is that why...

My care package showed up yesterday> Thanks Charlie. Installed the new PTO button, after having to pull the grille and redrill the hole in the arm. It was goobered up a bit and the new button would not fit. Got the belt installed and arm adjusted. Works perfect. Didn't have time to...

Well, spent Sunday getting the 149 ready for grass service. Got the blade frame off, deck slid under and went to put the belt on and hmmm, something ain't right. Ugh, the PTO button fell off the arm. Grrr. It has been loose and slipped off last year but I found it. Not so lucky this year...

Nice roller! Mine is a bit too lightweight and doesn't do enough to make it worthwhile pulling around. I need to bulk it up by 500+ lbs! After a cold winters nap sitting outside under the nose of my race trailer, I threw the battery in the 127 Sunday afternoon, turned on the fuel, pulled...

Things that Kill my Cub time.

Yup, Rick, that's it. I used to have both their numbers in my phone years ago. Fish killer!! Ya that's it. I forget which year I lost two trailer tires on the way over Thursday night. Which year did we tour the International engine plant? I had to get tires on Saturday. I got two...

Things that Kill my Cub time.

Wow....to see two guys from Fokisd on a Cub site?? What's the odds after this many years?? Been quite some time since those days!! Yes, I was at Indy, can't remember back to which years. I started using the Mack in 2002, so it might have been 2003 when I did Indy. I had my 2000 PSD CC...

Things that Kill my Cub time.

Thanks Kraig. I forgot one. My other '64 Galaxie. Bought as a project car, pretty solid, but needed a few things fixed. Bought in '96, painted in '97, motor in '99. Hasn't changed much. I call them Big and Little Enos. Thought it would be cool to put a hitch on the black car and...

Things that Kill my Cub time.

A few other things that take time away from playing with cubs: My '69 F100 Bought in 1988, when it was all stock. I put in a 428CJ/4spd. My '64 Galaxie Country Sedan. Bought in 1992, all stock. Been racing it full time since 1995. stock: current: 428 FE/Doug Nash 5spd...

Things that Kill my Cub time.

Keith told me to show off the old Mack. It has likely been a lot of years since you saw it Keith. Pretty sure I took it to Paul/Minnies last cookout how many years ago??? It's been a long term project. Bought in fall of 2001. I use it to pull my 40ft race trailer and I go everywhere in...

With no real room in the garage to work on the 127, it's under the nose of my trailer til warmer weather. Though it hasn't been brutal cold yet, still colder then I want to tinker outside. It runs fine, but want to update the wiring and get the electric lift installation completed. I've got...

Kraig.....I'm pretty sure if I dig in the right box I can come up with the toy cub just like the one on the right of your picture. I remember it well. I'll see if I can find it and post a picture.

David, doing it one handed I couldn't just go all hail Mary. It's gravel so I don't dig in deep and move the gravel into the yard. I do give'r heck when I need to, like moving a pile back if I get too much snow stacked up. That was just a small portion of my driveway.
