    There may be a bushing on one side that you have to remove to get the arm to tilt enough to get it out when you slide it all the way to one side.

    My 128 had a similar problem, the lift arm rod in the tube would spin so it wasn't line up with the detent stops.

    Are you sure you had the new voltage regulator connected properly? Many have ruined a new regulator by improper wiring, myself included.

    Model 149 with a 44” mowing deck

    Steve Bluiner wrote a FAQ about setting up and leveling the deck. It had instructions about heating and bending the under carriage to get proper lift.

    Original no spark issue

    How good is the battery, do you have at least 10 volts at the coil when cranking? Try a different plug wire and plug. Points gap set correctly? Points clean ? Run a file or a piece of fine emery paper thru the contacts.

    Violet wire would be for lights. It was built into the harness even tho the tractor didn't have lights. 147 tractors usually had lights on them, but maybe Vermeer specked them without?

    I have Worx trimmers and chainsaw all use the same battery and have no problems in the 4 years I have had them. Sold on line or Menards and Fleet Farm in my area.

    A quick read thru the manuals section should have all the instructions on proper belt tension for mowers and tillers.

    Put a spring assist on the lift and you can raise the deck with two fingers.

    May have been a bad casting or someone used too long of a bolt and blew it out.
