If'n I was standing next to it, I'd probably say it has two carb problems 1: float too high.. 2: High speed circuit plugged (assuming that it won't run up without the choke). But that's a diagnosis from beyond chargeable range and you know how much free advise is worth.. Why? It's puffing...

I'm with you, Steve. A combination maybe of slightly high float level (fixed jet) and a fussy governor? Governor is lagging whatever the engine is doing. I keep going back to Jim's feeling it was hunting less under load, which usually rules out too lean. These are the ones I like to have my...

Jim - If it's surging LESS under load, I'd look at the governor setting; it sounds like without load it is over speeding, and then over correcting. edit - Yeah - what Digger said too... edit edit - But usually the sloppy throttle shafts impact a lot more at low speed than at high RPM.

    Vintage Fords

2019 Update - Ray Paquet took his 29th NHRA Summer Nationals class win at Indy this weekend. Rumour is he's actually the last one running a Thunderbolt in regular NHRA racing.. (I saw pics recently of another one that was wrecked..)

The very best photo manager? (other than Adobe)

Just getting them in folders by date created will be a big thing. Until recently, Picassa didn't have a problem doing that. !#$%%^&*@#$

The very best photo manager? (other than Adobe)

Thanks, Kraig.. Part of the problem is Sandy and I both took a lot of pictures going back to '01. At one time I saved all of mine, based on subject. Sandy used the Kodak app, which just created folders based on date created. I eventually had to combine her stuff and mine, and I had moved her...

The very best photo manager? (other than Adobe)

I've used Picassa for years to import and file my photos. It's not been supported for at least two or three years and now doesn't file the pics from my new Sony camera correctly. I've got a pretty large collection and need to find a new manager app. I was going to just email Kraig, but then...

I'm surprised the muffler cracked before the "bracket"

Rob - Checking for hairline cracks? - we've used Dr. Scholl's spray foot powder to track those types of leaks. Just clean the area with carb or brake cleaner, let it dry, then spray a light coating of foot powder over the whole area and wait for the leak to start..

Great catch Jim.. Heat related problems can drive you buggy ( like valves with zero clearance when cold...)

    Steve Shaff's Dad

From Steve Shaff, posted in the main forum today - I thought I'd post it here so it doesn't get lost as the main page rolls... " Hi all...it's been a tough week here. My Dad passed away last Thursday after his second battle with cancer. He loved old tractors, including his restored IH Super...

Scott - we laugh about the face in the phone addiction, checking social media or whatever every few minutes, but for me, I've been hitting this forum like some OCD compulsion for most of the last 20 years..

Well, I've been now told I'm a fool that can't do a basic search and a jerk that won't get help from them again.. I'm kinda hoping they call me a troll next (except that would be taking their bait...)
