Kraig, Mike, Charlie, Harry - You fellas know your chit. So I mowed again tonight - working great. But I’ll need to get the rubber “thingy” placed properly because it’s just stuffed in the housing for now...same with the clip. Thx guys. D PS - the tractor is a monster. Love it.

Hey guys - Just wanted to thank you all for the advice on the 122. I tightened the belt as you guys suggested and she mowed great. Funny story, I mowed for five minutes and then the engine just quit. I checked the fuel knob and it was open, removed the spark plug, put a little gas in the...

Thanks Kraig!! I take it the pulleys are adjustable by loosening the bolts and re-positioning them at a different angle?

Kirk - Considering how many F-bombs you saved me with your "bent rod" suggestion, I owe you a beer. As for the mule drive with no hole for a spring, the other manual does show a 122 with a hole, but it was the pin-on manual that Charlie has listed that shows a 122 with no spring hole. So I...

So having the lift lever working like a charm, I can now put the belt on that I bought from Charlie. I looked at the manual for the belt replacement and it showed a small hole where the extension spring attaches to the pulley. From the looks of it, I don't have that hole in front. Luckily, I...

All I gotta say is thanks fellas. I leaned on that lever something fierce and the rod starting loosening more and more. After a couple more attempts doing it cold, she’s pretty straight. I re-attached the washer, spring and button. The lever works beautiful. It was the bend in the lever. Great...

Kraig and Craig - great idea! How would you go about doing it on this model? Maybe put the lever all the way forward and apply pressure/weight to the lever pushing forward? D

Well gents - After taking the top button off and getting the washer and spring out, I would have thought the rod would simply fall out at the bottom or significantly loosen up...but if I apply pressure from the top with a flat screwdriver, the rod goes down pretty firm and when I reach under and...

Harry - Pics attached of my work this afternoon. (Hope this kinda stuff doesn't bore you guys or take up too much space on the site). It is fun and hope I can fix this by myself. The weird thing is I am approaching this problem from the top (rather than the bottom like we discussed above)...

Woo hoo. Just got the button unscrewed. Took the spring out. Pretty proud of myself (baby steps). Lol

Is this button definitely threaded to rod or one fixed unit? Putting pressure on it but not budging. I did get the rubber grip down (was gummed up with yellow paint) and I see the two dents in the rod where the washer sits. Just can’t get the damn button unscrewed (lefty loosey)

Harry - LOL. Cussing is like Liquid Wrench in this instance...might not help but it makes me feel better.

Thank you Wayne. I'm not quite to the cussing point but those steps sound promising for an amateur guy like myself. I'll see if I can re-work the old system as it sits. If I can't, I may need to ask a buddy to help me craft a new rod. Appreciate the help.

Harry and Kraig - Thanks guys. Gonna give it a go when I get home at 4 or so. I took the u bolt off the other day but that cover is formed to the base of the lever so I don't think she'll slide off too easy. I'll start with unscrewing the button and see if the internal rod drops out so I...

Kraig - Here's a pic of the thin metal covering on the lever at the bottom. It seems to protect the internal workings of the lever or maybe it's just a protective sleeve for the u-bolt. Either way, it looks like I need to loosen the button as suggested before and then slide the internal assembly...

Craig - Makes sense. If I had a pile of them I'd do the same. Do you take off the whole underside assembly or just replace the lift lever rod? (Because from what I'm seeing there's no way to replace the rod without taking the whole assembly off the underside)

So Harry - Are the spring and washed at the top of the lever assembly or bottom? Looking at the diagram it appears once Inremove the button, I’ll see the rod, spring and washer? Or is it wayyyy down at the bottom? In which case I’d have to take the whole lever assembly off (PIA)

Wayne - Your post is like a foreign language to me...I sit at a desk all day trying to fix people’s problems. LOL. Hope I don’t have to forge my own lever rod or I’ll have some entertaining pics/stories for this board.
