Cleaning up the block on the 70, I have been soaking this exhaust 90 in hopes of getting it removed. In the past somebody thought pounding on it with a hammer was the answer. I can get a muffler on it but would prefer to replace it.

This is the kind if feedback I need as I am no engine man. My plan is to take the engine to a small engine shop and have them go through it. What is the best way to do this? Strip it down to the bare block and head and let the shop take it from there?

Too cold and wet to sandblast and paint so pulled the head and this is what I found. No big build up of carbon and the cylinder wall was not to badly scarred. For those of you that know a lot about engines what do you see here in the pic? The piston is a bit pitted.

    Engine work Eastern Iowa

Can anyone recommend a good Kohler engine mechanic in Eastern Iowa or Western Illinois that I can take my 7hp engine to for a thorough rehab? I can tear things apart and put them back together but when it comes to rebuilding a motor I am worthless.

    Iron Gard Paint SDS

That really looks nice! You must have a large dedicated paint space to handle such a large job. What particular PPE do you use?

    Iron Gard Paint SDS

I did finally get to the right site with the help of Case IH, I always referred to them as MSDS but I guess that was changed awhile back. They say to simplify things. Like the government ever simplified anything.

    Iron Gard Paint SDS

So I go to the Case IH store and I buy paint and walk out of the store, I go to PPG buy primer and hardener and walk out of the store with product information sheets that tell me all I need to know about how to apply the primer and hardener. The SDS for PPG products which are equally important...

My grill was nothing but rust found an expanded metal that was close enough so I made a replacement.

    Paint Question

For a Cub 70, are the foot rests done in gloss or satin black? Color of the mesh grill?

I can appreciate that, I had inquired as to how much paint was needed and the answers were all over the place with some replies being 4 qts. of yellow. I am 40 miles from the source so I have "P" for plenty. Not too sure about using a hardener, I have concerns about the level of PPE needed to...

It has been 22 years since I last painted an antique tractor, I got a little sticker shock today when I picked up some paint. What is pictured cost me $202.00. I still have to get primer, I priced the primer I wished to use was a non sanding primer and it was $155.00 a gallon could not get it in...
