Good grief, Some folks should never be allowed near tools or to work on their own Cubs!

    PTO CLUTCH REPLACEMENT

Manual clutches are serviceable, reliable and much cheaper to rebuild with the kit. Electric clutches are expensive, pretty much non-rebuildable and adapting it to an 1X8/9 Series will take time and the proper design/machine work to accomplish. It has been done by others and there is...

Help identifying model year of a 782

It's a MTD/Cub Cadet Corporation built unit which started at S/N 700001. With a serial # of U737324, it will have an aluminum transmission housing rather than the IH Cast Iron housing and it will be painted black. The first ~20,000 MTD built Cadets used IH supplied Cast Iron transmissions. Be...

    Mower Deck belt woes

The idler pulleys on your mule drive are not correct as they are too big in diameter. They should be < than 3" Dia., like ~ 2" D. You need to get the correct pulleys to match the odd belt width used on the IH Cub Cadets from the 1X2/3 Series thru the QL models. Part # is IH 61176 C92 IH...

    New to the family- 129

Tom, You need to replace the friction bushing inside support bracket. The link to the Service Manual that Kraig posted really doesn't explain the fix well (Ref pg. 2-55 & 2-56. However, there is a FAQ item #32 that specifically shows you how to do it. See link below. You will need to order...

    Rear PTO Attachments

Denny is correct about PTO output shaft on a gear drive Cub Cadet being a descendant option from the Farmall Cub since the CC transmission was adapted to the Cub. The design is not exactly the same but similar. The rotation direction of the Cub Cadet PTO was the opposite a Cub and any other...

    106 swamp resurrection. Of sorts

The long time machinist at the shop where I take my Kohler blocks for overhauls always installs a new exhaust valve guide and tells me to replace the exhaust valve with a new one. He says old exhaust valves will not maintain the proper clearance gap due to loss of temper in the steel. Also...

Cub and Quiet Line Cub Cadet Production numbers

Interesting that the 1450's had overtaken the 1250 as the most popular model even though the 1250's were cheaper. I recall near the tail end of the 1x8/9 series production, that farmers in our area started buying 149's over the 129 at our dealership. For many years the 12 hp hydro's were most...

    127New Belt too short.

Mike, Whenever a mule drive belt comes off by itself or fails, its always good to check the two mule drive pulleys to make sure the bearings in them spin freely. I also wiggle them side-to-side to see if there's any slop to make sure the bearings are good.

electric CC riding mower?! when did that happen?

The RER Cadets had some assembly required by the dealer when unpacking from the shipping crate. Filling the battery with acid, attaching the seat, steering wheel and rear hitch were required. I think the Mower decks on the Cadet 60's came installed from Memphis but the later models with the...

    Carb issues

Guys, the intake valve is higher then the carb so gas can't run into and fill the combustion chamber on the one lung Kohlers K-Series. If the needle sticks or doesn't fully seal, the gas is going to run out into the air filter canister and eventually on to the floor. If its a small leak, the...
