Sounds to me like that unit may have been underwater at some point. LOTS of that going around here lately, Especially here in IA. SD, NE area and around Spencer Iowa where RPRU was held this past week. What a freaking mess, most of the motels are on the south side of town from where the...

    Overhauling my Cub Cadet 72

It will only jump about an inch, it's not like it will launch itself through the wall!! All I ever use is a vise with a couple blocks of wood to protect the shaft from the jaws and allow it to slide a bit when hit with a brass drift and a BFH. Clamp the end of the shaft between the blocks, and...

Wanting to do engine oil & filter? change for my October 1964 IH Cub Cadet 100 with 10hp Kohler engine.

The Cub non pressurized engines do not have oil filters. Except for the hydro's and they have a hydraulic filter on the front of the transmission. Straight 30 weight oil is fine for the transmission. Also a good time to grease the front axle knuckles and pivot pin and clean the fuel sediment...

    Overhauling my Cub Cadet 72

Caused by the main spring rattling around on the shaft when the clutch is disengaged. When in doubt, replace. "Do it right., do it once"

    Overhauling my Cub Cadet 72

Again, you will have to dis-assemble the clutch from one end or the other in order to remove the bearing. There is no easier way. Check the teaser spring also as it may be broken. The bearing is spring loaded to the driveshaft & held in place with the Spirol pins.

    Overhauling my Cub Cadet 72

The driveshaft and clutch plates will have to be dis-assembled, preferably out of the tractor, in order to remove the bearing. You may also have to resurface the clutch plates as well as the wear parts of the throw out lever if badly and unevenly worn. I take it you are having driveshaft issues?

    Overhauling my Cub Cadet 72

Are you talking the front PTO bearing or the throw out bearing on the driveshaft here??

    hydraulic lift control

Some had a 'U' shape on the end with a pinch bolt to clamp it to the rod, others (earlier) versions had a tiny Spirol coiled pin through the lever and rod and they usually broke after years of use and rust pin/. This is the type (part #4 in the image) that replaced it once they discovered they...

    Ignition switch for a 1250

I would get the one listed for your tractor then. Why do you suspect the one installed now is defective? Wont crank or won't start if it does crank?

    Ignition switch for a 1250

Are all 5 of the prongs on your switch being used? As you can see in the diagram below, there should be only 5 wires to the ignition switch, two of which are on the same prong You obviously have the wrong switch installed now. Get the one listed for your model Cub. Compare the harness in your...
