    782 Hydro Leak

    Thanks Dave.

    782 Hydro Leak

I have my hydro pump/motor opened up and ready to remove the swash plate. Per the manual, I need to mark my punch precisely at 15/32" (11.9mm) to drive the pins just far enough to remove the shafts and swash plate. I'm using a pin punch, with the little nub at the end. Should I measure from...

582 DEAD. Cannot get starter to turn.

Dan - Glad to hear you figured it out. Safe travels to you. And remember, there's a section on this forum for random photos. You know, things like amazing waterfalls, African wildlife, etc!

    Mystery Lift Bar and...

By the way, Digger, if you saw my ealier note about the brake spring, you can disregard. Unless it's already boxed up - then just let it ride. I'm guessing you had a bunch of orders to fill by the end of your inventory.

    Mystery Lift Bar and...

Yeah, I saw that, but he posted a welcome note to a new member yesterday, so I think he's done counting all those goodies now.

    Mystery Lift Bar and...

Thanks. Dave. That's good to know. Yes, it has internal brakes, too. Glad to knoq it wasn't just some fly-by-night fix a previous owner came up with. Of course, I guess it wouldn't really matter, since it it works.

    Mystery Lift Bar and...

Thanks for the replies, guys. They say if it ain't broken, don't fix it, so I'll keep using that lift bar. And, the brake spring, too, unless I can figure out the "right" way. My only real agenda right now is to reinstall the rebuilt steering box and get the seals replaced in the hydro pump...

    Mystery Lift Bar and...

I'm splitting my 782, to replace the seals in the hydro pump, repair the trunion slot, etc. I was surprised to see that the 3 point lift bar is not straight. And it doesn't have just one bend - it looks like a meandering river, with two bends, first up, then down. Does anyone know what...

582 DEAD. Cannot get starter to turn.

If it starts when you jump from battery to starter, AND if there's 12V to the small terminal screw when you turn key to "start" position, I have to believe your new solenoid is bad. Did you verify that your cable from battery positive to the solenoid is good, and you're getting 12V to the...

582 DEAD. Cannot get starter to turn.

Double-check to make sure your solenoid is grounded. Clean the area good so the solenoid case makes good contact with the frame. You could even use a small wire jumper from battery negative to the solenoid case to see if that helps. If you're getting 12v at the small terminal when you turn...

    782 Hydro Leak

Thanks, Matt. Good to know my memory isn't completely gone (yet)!

    782 Hydro Leak

I finally decided to believe that Spring is here, and I removed the snow thrower (QA42A), chains, wheel weights, and rear weights from my IH 782 (s/n 682355). And, since it will be a little while before I need to install the tiller, I decided to finally change the cork gasket to cure my hydro...

Use the flat-top t-bolt to loosen it (move the pulley forward).

Pretty sure I'd step back if I saw that coming at me! :feint:

    Cub Cadet Wheel Chock

My 1450 and 1650 both have external disc brakes. 782 is internal.

    trailer hitch

Steve - I'm not certain, but I think the drawbar hitch may interfere wtith the tiller if you leave it mounted to the tiller gearbox frame while the tiller is connected. I'd remove the drawbar when using the tiller. But it would mount right up to the gearbox frame when the tiller comes off. Of...

    Seats !

Scott's fault - talking about keeping the heat on up there probably triggered some ptsd from that awful day! (Just kidding, Scott. I'm sure Charlie will never forget that.) But then he rebuilt; bigger, better, stronger! Still a dang shame about that big ol' back-surfin' Bullwinkle!

    Seats !

I've bought two from Charlie, one of which was to replace a "similar" one from a farm store. Digger's are far better qualiy and they last. And, yes, we have to keep his heat on at FrostBite Falls. (I wonder if he is still paying off student loans from Whatsamatta U?) :roflol:

    Seats !

Scott, I agree - that's a comfy seat. I have that mower, too. I only wish it had springs instead of the hard plastic (rubber?) bumpers under the seat pan.
