Parts Wanted Looking for Hydrostatic suction tube assembly - IH-394827-R21

Looking at these components, there appears to be no components that can't be found at a good hydraulic shop. Those tubes can easily be fabricated out of 304 SS tubing after installing the ferrules and "B" nuts, and flaring the one end of the tubes. All you need are the materials, a tubing...

    Clutch bearing Loosened on me

Don't use antiseize/never seize. If you're worried about crankshaft stub corrosion, just smear a little engine oil on it. Install the PTO bearing flush with the end of the crankcase stub. Lock it with the collar, moving collar in the direction of normal crankshaft rotation...

1811 with Seized Kohler M18 Engine

I had this happen on a 782. I since put a shutoff valve in the fuel line just before the pump Just running the engine a few seconds without oil definitions should cause the engine to seize! Sounds like you have other issues.

    Generator/Starter ~ Test, Rewind/Replace

Wow! I never knew this, and I've been messing with generators, alternators and starters for 50 years! Thanks!

    Generator/Starter ~ Test, Rewind/Replace

Do it. It only takes 2 seconds.

What’s involved with adding a mower deck to a 70/100?

Originals had a rectangular deck with two blades, driven by a toothed deck belt and "cogged" spindles. Initial blade setting is with the blades perpendicular to each other.

Help identifying model year of a 782

I understand that MTD didn't keep records of serial numbers and years of manufacture, and it's difficult to date a 782 built by them.

    K301 rebuild

A maladjusted governor can easily cause surging or hunting for speed, too. The Cadet owner's manual or Kohlrr engine manual shows the proper hook-up and adjustment.

    K301 rebuild

Just set the points to .020", so you have a slight drag on the gauge blade.

    K301 rebuild

Doing a differential compression test would show this, and other faults as well, but most people don't have the necessary equipment.

    Scouts Honor, Farm Strong

My old auto garage boss had a D-900, bought new in 1965. It was a great truck, but by 1976 the tinworm got it bad. Seems that all IH pickups attracted "the worm".

    K301 rebuild

If you had a good, unbroken concentric frosted appearance on both the seat and valve face, you should be good. Be sure the cold tappet clearance on the intake is .008/.010", with .017/.019" on the exhaust. Also ensure you rotate yhe crankshaft so the involved tappet is in its lowest position...

    K301 rebuild

It's hard diagnosing engine problems "over the phone", but is it possible that someone had this engine apart in the past, then just stored it, possibly because they couldn't get it to run? The reason I ask is that if the ignition points break when the timing mark is centered in the timing...

New member from NC and need some advice about my 122…

Take the cylinder head off. If the cylinder wall isn't scored, then in my experience, there isn't much on the 241/301 engines that can't be fixed with less than two $100 bills, and it's worth it! Don't rely on the dealer. There must be someone you know who can help you directly. If not...

    Score!

If you're going to make a freak show out of a lawn/garden tractor, start with a green one!

Did you replace the valve guides? If so, did you ream them afterwards?

    K301 rebuild

There shouldn't be. The float needle seat is brass....no rubber on it. The inlet needle actuated by the float has a rubber (Viton?) tip on it that seals within the brass needle seat. Be sure the float level is set correctly with the air horn inverted, as a too high float level may not let the...

    K301 rebuild

You won't believe what I found in my stash of Cub Cadet parts! There's a serviceable PTO hub (the yellow object) with internal snap ring, a new PTO bearing with eccentric, and a complete PTO assembly I put together 30+ years ago with serviceable parts and a new friction disc and pressure plate...
