    Overhauling my Cub Cadet 72

For the Cub Cadet 72, the original white is IH 902, and the yellow is IH 483. Unless you're a purist, you can find these colors in Rustoleum Farm and Implemented colors. You may have to hunt a bit. I used Rustoleum Farm IH red to repaint my Cadet 782 hood, and it matched the rest of the...

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

Those hardware store springs don't cut it. They're either too long, too short, or the wire size isn't right. They just don't work!

    Motor oil

Southern States carries 30 weight non-detergent oil also.

    Cold Start

I bought a CCC 782 at an auction two years ago. I had trouble getting it started, especially in colder weather. What I found was fuel was leaking padt the carb needle valve, flooding the cylinders. This happened anytime the fuel tank was over 1/2 full. Replacement carbs are mostly Chinese...

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

A spring loaded idler arm and pulley should be located between the center and righthand blade drive pullies.

    Exactly!

    102 starter generator questions

Gone also is buying a bunch of Packard 440 wire, terminal ends and boots to make up your own plug wires!

    Motor oil

Most ACE hardware stores have their branded 30W oil in quarts.

    Motor oil

The Rotella 30W has a decent zinc content. I've used it in K-series engines and old Farmall tractors for years.

    Trans oil change

I recall that 30W engine oil could be used in a manual box, but not a hydro unit!

    Paint problems

Looks like IH 902 white and IH 482 yellow are correct for the 1968 time frame.

    Paint problems

I've had this issue many times with numerous types of paint. When I restored my '64 Cadet 100 18 years ago, I purposely used IH yellow and white, and DID NOT use clear coat. The paint has held up just fine by waxing with Meguiar's. You DO NOT need to use clear coat!

    IH Cub Cadet 70

Be sure that you can get the appropriate oversized piston and rings first!

To Rebuild or Just Leave As Is

Don't remove, or try to remove that exhaust elbow.....you don't need to!

    782 fuel pump

"Hecho en China" Should I be surprised?

    782 fuel pump

Thanks! I'm familiar with Facet, as the Cessna 310, 401/402, and other 400-series aircraft used Facet electric pumps as fuel boosters on the tip tanks. Plus, I used to surveil the Facet plant down in Bristol, VA.

    Tractor won’t shut off

Put a new ignition switch in. Most are 60 years old and worn out internally. Remove the battery so you can get to it. Meantime, you can add full choke to stop the engine.

Two recent problems that I resolved !

It seems that with mechanical fuel pumps, carburetors, etc., no matter if I get them from Kohler or some other parts house, they all say "China" on them!

    782 fuel pump

Is E16010 an O'Reilly part number, or the pump manufacturer's number? Who is the manufacturer? We don't have an O'Reilly around here, but other parts houses likely have this pump.
