    WNY Cubs: 106, 107, 147, and Original

Way too many projects on hold, but I've been working mostly on some smaller stuff. Things from the abandoned farm we are rescuing. I did just get my hands on another project machine though which I will make a thread about soon, not a Cub Cadet though.

    WNY Cubs: 106, 107, 147, and Original

The 70 is sporting all 4 original factory tires, still in pretty good shape for the age. I can't remember off the top of my head what they are. Goodyear maybe? I know the rears are B. F. Goodrich since they share the same tread as the tires on my 107.

    WNY Cubs: 106, 107, 147, and Original

I'm so overdue to post all these pictures I've taken of my fleet over this past year Somewhere I mentioned the 106 was down with a tire splitting open. I did a 10 minute wheel swap with one off my parts machine and it is back to full service.

I think I have an incurable disease

Other pictures. She recently suffered another hydraulic failure, the other cylinder that hadn't leaked before started leaking from its seal. It might actually be time to swap out the cylinders for the spares I have.

I think I have an incurable disease

Much has been happening since I last updated this thread close to a year ago! The biggest thing I have done to her was replacing that bad thermostat. It was the factory one indeed broken wide open. I was amazingly able to remove it in one piece with just a bit of damage. I also replaced the...

    Saving a Farmall M

Okay now for some more treasures... I got these 2 old mowers. They were in what appeared to be the scrap bin. Both missing most parts. One of them still spins over, the other has a smashed block. That one also has a unique rear wheel chain drive off a second side output from the engine. I am...

    Saving a Farmall M

It is a real shame, the property was probably pretty impressive about 10 years ago.

    Saving a Farmall M

Then I went wandering around the property and found a ton of stuff we didn't even know was there. Unfortunately most of it is too far gone to save, but still incredible. In order, an old hay rake, a whole Massey Harris clipper combine, a Wisconsin v4 powered New Holland baler (there's another...

    Saving a Farmall M

We went back again last Saturday. No more snow, figured I would send some pictures of the buildings as well as some more treasures saved. These first 2 are the buildings by the house. The metal one is pretty much completely collapsed, the other is intact at the front but otherwise pretty...

    Postal delivery problems

I recently received 2 packages on the same day. USPS put them both into our mailbox, or at least, attempted to. Upon arriving home one of two was laying in the road. Not to mention the other package, which was supposed to arrive a couple days earlier, came from New Jersey, went into New York...

    Saving a Farmall M

Gary, those are 3 projects "on hold". To the far right is the k241 from my 107 awaiting its time to be torn down and rebuilt. Next to it the k161 block out of my original, also awaiting rebuild because of the governor failure it had. The big pile of parts is a complete Tecumseh V70 I pulled out...

    Saving a Farmall M

Put together a very simple wood stand for the motor tonight.

    Saving a Farmall M

The most tedious part by far of the project was this rear bearing oil cup. In the first 2 pictures you can see that the cup itself is squashed down into the brass cap, I knew it looked off and it turns out it was definitely not supposed to be squashed down. I did my best to flatten it back out...

    Saving a Farmall M

Gary, to me this motor was a little bit past that point of "work clothes" unfortunately. The picture doesn't show it but the rust was pretty bad particularly around the motor base. I do love the "work clothes" look, but that's only a good look until a certain point. Some pieces of equipment...

    Saving a Farmall M

While the tractor won't come home right away, here's something else from the barn that did. A vintage General Electric dual voltage motor. This was sitting in the enclosed part of the barn, under old rolled up carpet right near a door into the barn. I first dismantled it and cleaned it up, then...

    Saving a Farmall M

Oh and, because of the farmer's hay operation, the fact that it has an M&W live PTO hand clutch makes sense. It was probably quite helpful for him when he baled hay.

    Saving a Farmall M

Gary, this is a lucky situation of knowing the right people. The son of the late farm owner just wanted to bulldoze everything because of the condition of the barns. There's other equipment and stuff there that we will be saving. A haybine, 3 square balers, a hay rake, and 4 or 5 hay wagons, as...

    Saving a Farmall M

I definitely planned to keep all the mods it has. Something that would definitely be fixed is the cooling system leak though. Yanking the thing out was not my idea and I definitely believe it would be possible to remove the section of barn roof beforehand. That is what I would really like to do.

    Saving a Farmall M

This old Farmall has quite a story behind it. It currently resides in a crumbling abandoned barn on an old farm. I am making it my goal to save it, as it's a cool tractor with a cool story. This tractor was apparently purchased from the world's fair and it originally wore a white paint job. It...
