Now that I have tires, back to my hydro. TC-157 doesn't show anything on either side of the damper plate next to the trunnion, but there is room for something on the trunnion side. What goes on the sides here?

Got to pick up my V61 tires this weekend at the Rough & Tumble show in Kinzers PA. Ed brought an extra pair of Firestone 16x6.50 tri-ribs and I said let me think about it...when I came back an hour later they were gone. Here are three different tires for comparison by my 122. 4.00-8 Deestone...

Thanks to all for the advice and to CCS for the trunnion parts. I am putting the replacement hydro in my 169 this weekend and have a day or so to test things out before I put it all together. This is a used hydro and I hope it works, the PO said it worked last time they used it. Is there...

Thanks Ron, that's what I'm hoping to identify as I've already started ordering parts for 40728 on the bottom. That one has manual relief valves and I'm hoping I can simply pull them out and drop in self adjusting valves.

Good morning, here is the pic of my two hydro tags. Not sure what the numbers mean, and I assume the units are exchangeable, that's really the big question. Also, I should replace my hydro O-rings. What makes these O-rings so expensive? I bought one locally for a quarter and now I'm thinking...

What numbers are what on the hydro tag? One tag is mounted and the other is bolted on the top. (Argh, iPhone wont resize pic, maybe later.)

Ed, thank you. I started this with the manual and it looks like page 2-48 shows the hydro needs to be disassembled in order to remove the trunnion shaft. I was hoping to pull it through, but there are many parts and seals that would fall in and out. Not sure I want to disassemble everything...

Got a used hydro unit in good condition and cleaning it up. It looks like the trunnion shaft will pull all the way through, does it? Will the insides fall apart if that shaft pulls out? I would think so, but I don't know. This is kind of a cool learning experience, I may up up liking hydros...

Thanks all for the advice with the thin wrenches. I got a tube from Ray in PA, good guy. Also got the dowel pin out by a guy who used Gibbs instead of PB Blaster. Wow! Worked great, but over $15 a can, anyone else try it? Picked up another spare hydro unit to see how they work, gonna rain all...

Ethan, that's exactly what happened. I don't have a 1" open end thin enough to hold the top nut. I slowly turned the bottom nut. My arm was blocking my view and I stopped to take a look and POW! In addition to thin open ends, I also need thin-walled sockets and good snap ring pliers. And the...

Well, here's the follow up to my tight transmission tube assembly. I hit it a few times with Blaster and cleaned the area...figured I had to try again. Here is the result. I imagine this is not fixable, what's the bite on this gonna be? And can I just call it bad names and go for broke to get...

Cub Cadet 582 with handyman parts.

I defer to Matt's extraordinary background and experience. However, I have them on all of mine, always put them on backwards, but then get it right. Take your time and think it through. Matt, you're an engineer guy, why don't you use these?

Nick/Ethan, thanks for the feedback. I have good tools and those marks aren't from me, I'm being careful. I gave it a squirt of PB. Thanks, I'll post again later this week.

I am pulling my hydro off following Gerry's instructions and am stuck trying to get the trans tube assembly off. The longer nut at the bottom is really tight and I haven't tried the thinner nut at the top. Which nut does what?

Thanks Harry, by gasket I mean between the plastic and metal, I'm thinking some kind of squishy black square to prevent little scratches - see example. (I want the first scratch to be from a falling ladder or from a screwdriver my brother tosses me in the shed.) Let me take a better picture...

Cub Cadet 582 with handyman parts.

Dan, do a search for "cub 582 clutch disc" and you will find some sites with photos and part numbers, I like partstree, photo below from them. Then buy the parts you need from the sponsors here on this site (up above), or from the site where you found the picture. I find the sponsors here are...

Two problems. (1) I still have trouble getting my brakes right. Yes, I will clean them all up (over the winter) but it seems to be the caliper spacer (part #7) inside the spring is too long. It causes too much space on each side of the, uh, axle disc. I don't have the patience to re-shoe these...

Marty, thanks for the pics of the V61's back on July 20th, they don't look as square as the other pics I've seen, I may go with those. I was also impressed by how well your shop floor looks so clean!
