    Worn bearing hole on wheel

All good ideas, thank you. I’ll try them and see which works best for this one. I learned a good lesson upgrading to 1” spindles — I now have nice new and expensive tires mounted on 1” wheels and have only one tractor with 1” spindles. So now I have to either buy new tires for my 3/4” wheels, or...

    Worn bearing hole on wheel

Howdy, any advice on how to tighten up a worn hole on a wheel? The picture is a front wheel, but the bearing does not fit tight and it spins freely. On the lower left you can see where PO must have tried to tighten it by making an ident, but it didn’t work. How do I fix this the right way...

Cub Cadet 123 - Hydro Issue

Two things I learned when I did this with my first hydro are the manual vs auto valves and trunion wear. My 169 had manual valves and I put in autos, not sure which was OEM. The trunion is still a project but cubfaq has a good guide that has helped me tremendously. Good people here will be your...

Tachometer used to set speed on K-301

@djkelly I like the idea leaving it mounted. Please post model or link to purchase. I also like the sirometer marked “Made in W Germany,“ don’t see that anymore!

    Yale-Towne 1-ton (BB) Hoist

Lot's of reasons to stay inside so I am pulling some preventative maintenance. I am cleaning up an old spur-geared 1-ton hoist and want to re-grease the gears inside the gear box. How do I remove these horizontal pins to the left of the zerk fitting (hole, zerk removed)? The pins don't go...

    Blade or thrower?

I would stick with blower, however in the past several bad winters in Lancaster County PA my QA42 would clog before I got out of the garage and onto the driveway. Creeper didn’t help. So I bought a Honda walk behind to do the job and kept the QA to play with once the heavy stuff was gone. All...

    102 ag tires

There are so many options now for rear tires. I prefer the Carlisle, but which tire looks the most authentic and original? I have a set of the AG tires and would like regular tires, but they all look like new zero-turn type of tires. Thoughts?

    Steering column search

This recent thread should give you some good info. I order my parts from the sponsors here because they are price competitive and give expert advice. https://www.ihcubcadet.com/threads/steering-wheel-removal.7212/

    102 ag tires

Miller delivers free to several events throughout the year. I met them at Kinzers, PA during the Threshermen’s Reunion at the Rough and Tumble Engineers Museum several years ago. My favorite sponsor up top is sold out of the tri-rib tires I like.

1282 red cub cadet information pleas

Good advice Snick, don’t fix it in front of the seller. It’s just not right. If you do that you need to renegotiate the price. I’ve never had the seller raise the price on me, but they’ve given me a firm hand shake and a “thanks for your honesty” which is worth more than a few hundred bucks I...

1968 Cub cadet 124 Lawn tractor Tranny Problem

Reading this thread makes me want to go check that pilot bushing in my tractors! I don’t remember EVER checking that when I oil and grease all my fittings. Gotta grease my steering pin too. Good point!

Wow Charlie, even your snow shovels are CC yellow! I like a lot of things in your garage!

    Sheds and Shops

Thanks for the info SV. Does it sweat inside when the outside temps get real warm and humid in the Spring? I can’t open my garage on those nice days because the humidity condenses on everything and my pole barn roof rains on my tools. What size water heater do you have for how long piping?

    Sheds and Shops

Did any of you guys build radiant heat in your floors? I’m considering a 3/4” pex hydronic system in my next garage/shop because I’m tired of the kerosene bullet heaters and drafty pole barn designs. Plus I usually have coffee cans of old gas with greasy parts sitting in a corner somewhere and...

Remove and Replace Drive Shaft on 127 Cub Cadet

Maybe IH went to plastic blades later in production? Good to know, I’ll for sure replace mine when I fix that front cup problem. The K341 needs an overhaul anyway. Good points about the rag joint coupler vs replacing the OEM part. I haven’t researched this much stuff since my gray PB water pipe...

Remove and Replace Drive Shaft on 127 Cub Cadet

A new fan from CCSpecialties (link above) is about $15. I replaced mine because the 50 year old fan was very brittle compared to the softer plastic on a new one. I also replaced the rubber flex coupler. Be sure to measure where the old fan is from the coupler end so you have an idea where to...

    Splitting the 1450

Please tell more about the trunnion repairs. Isn’t that the part that causes jerky movements? I have a heck of a time with my 169.

    Finally doing a 100!

I just saw this, that 100 does look great! Very tastefully painted! I agree about the tires as well. I put the same tires on my 122 and people told me the ag’s make it look like a puller and were not offered as OEM when originally sold. I also swap out for tri-ribs up front. After all the parts...

    steering wheel removal

That picture I just posted is a replacement steering column I put in my 70. The worm gear gives me an additional rotation. Of course the column is just a little longer than OEM and I needed to make some changes inside the frame for it to fit, but it turns great and I’ll do it to my 122 next time...

    steering wheel removal

Be aware of the plug at the far end (bottom) of your steering column and don’t bash too hard up top because the parts fit tight inside the steering box. Of course you‘ll want to pull that all apart anyway and replace maybe some bearings and fresh grease.
