Look forward to seeing updates. Maybe it will get me motivated, I have a 48 and 49 I’ve been tinkering around on but my 154 we use to mow with got in the way, a cracked head 🙁. Good luck and congrats on getting the old girl complete.

Was thinking about your 184. If you pull it off even with low compression it will start if you have the timing right. Running it will have the oil pressure and heat to loosen the valves unless you have broken valve spring. Don’t know if it has a low oil pressure shutdown?

Question? Have you checked the bolts and gasket around the intake/exhaust? Since it is a updraft system if it’s leaking there it could be too lean a mixture to burn

Don’t know if it’s the same as my 1450 and this may be a little late push down till flush on the matching pins and it will release

Simple test is a test wire from the battery straight to the ignition of the coil. Or a test light from the ignition side of the coil to ground to see if your coil is getting power when you are turning the engine over. That will tell you if the switch is bad or wired wrong.

    Model 70 Engine issue

Have you checked the float in the carb? Could be getting fuel in it. Do you have another fuel supply you could test with or you could use a clear fuel line for testing. Will it start back while it's hot? Just some thoughts.

Also have you checked fuel cap for tank ventilation. Start with the basics and verify the simple things. You might want to put a fuel filter that allows you to see the fuel.
