    Dad’s 100

It runs!! It fired right up and runs great. I let it idle and cool down a couple times to finish curing the paint on the muffler. I drove it around the yard for a while to get it up to temp. Tomorrow, I’ll re-torque the head bolts and secure the gas tank with the straps. The carb adjustments...

Thanks guys! All that’s left is to wet sand and buff the hood so I can get the hood ornament and decals on. I also need to put on the front hydraulic couplers. I stole them for my 129 so I could run my dump trailer.

It’s ready for a battery and gas and hopefully it fires up. The gas tank is temporarily mounted with zip ties since I need to run the engine and then pull the tank to re-torque the head bolts. Don’t wanna risk scratching the tank with the straps putting them on, then off, then on again.

Haha 😂 I’ll resist the urge to take it cruising in town.

Finished the wiring today. I added a taillight using a marker light that was on the fender. They were on the fenders when dad bought the tractor 40 yrs ago. If the other light wasn’t missing I probably would’ve put them back on the fenders. I also got the muffler and air cleaner on.

The round fenders are the best looking ones ever made in my opinion. Yesterday, I got most of the wiring harness built and added pieces to the engine.

    Favorite model?

My favorite narrow frame is the 100. There’s just something about those round fenders. My favorite wide frame is the 1x8/1x9 series because of their similar look to the 66 series tractors. So much so that I painted my 129 like one.

Finished the yellow painting on Tuesday. Got the valve and levers and the other fender on today. Need to pick up some high temp paint for the muffler. I built a mini paint booth to spray any small pieces I may have overlooked, such as the lift pin for the rear lift.

Thanks! Unfortunately, my dad passed away in 2016 but I’m sure he’s looking down and keeping an eye on his Cub. I hope he approves.

Made a little more progress over the weekend. The last batch of parts are hung up and ready for paint.

    Refurbishing my 108

Nice Cubs Gordon. I sent you a message about how to easily fix your steering with a tapered pin. Check your conversations.

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

You should definitely stick with a brand that you can feel confident in getting parts and service in the future. I heard someone at work one day talking about buying a Rural King tractor because they’re cheaper than Kubota and JD. That sounds good until there’s a warranty issue and there’s no...

    Sub-Compact Tractor with Loader

My Kubota BX24 is the perfect size for my 1 acre. To get the SSQA on the loader, you’ll need a BX2370 /2670 or newer. It was not an option on the older models like mine.

    Cast End Mower Deck

Wow! That’s a really solid old deck. Most of those have holes rusted through them and the baffles are long gone. Mine was in rough shape when I got it.

    Refurbishing my 108

Looks great! The caution decal looks to me like the one that goes under the seat mount above the battery.

Thanks! The engine has plenty of power to run the pump. I actually shimmed the internal relief valve to around 700 psi to keep from slipping the belt. It would likely be too little flow to run a loader at a reasonable speed. You would also have to come up with a larger oil reservoir as it holds...

I’m not sure the press in studs will fit in from the back with the external brakes on your 108. I bought a set for my 129 but I’m not sure if I can use them. I haven’t checked yet.

    Cast End Mower Deck

Sure looks like a 42” to me. This is my 100 with a 42” deck and 23/8.5 tires. The 38” doesn’t have enough room between the gauge wheels to clear 8.5” wide tires.

The studs are pressed in and the holes had to be drilled out.
